What the numbers mean

Because U of T does not publish the number of offers it makes across its direct-entry programs, there is no official overall acceptance rate. Percentages for U of T that circulate online are not published by the university, and should not be read as official. The application totals are also counts of applications through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC), not unique applicants: students can apply to several U of T programs and campuses.

Selectivity varies enormously by program. The 2025-26 Enrolment Report gives two examples from the previous fall: over 11,000 domestic applicants for roughly 900 funded first-year Engineering places, and almost 3,500 domestic applicants for 300 Computer Science places on the St. George campus. U of T Engineering, which publishes its own figures, offered places on 27.5% of first-year applications for fall 2025: 21.6% for domestic and 41.9% for international applications.

Professional undergraduate programs (second-entry programs such as Dentistry and Pharmacy) are more selective: about 16% of their roughly 10,100 applicants received offers in the year described in the 2025-26 report. In 2024-25 the Faculty of Dentistry received 914 applications for its DDS program and made 117 offers. For doctoral and doctoral-stream master's programs, U of T says offer rates are typically around 25%.

U of T is in high demand internationally: it received more than 41,500 international undergraduate applications for fall 2025 and was the first choice of 55% of international applicants applying through OUAC. International applicants whose first language is not English need to meet the English requirements below.
