What the numbers mean
Emory's acceptance rate has been close to 10% for three years: 10.3% for fall 2025 (3,869 of 37,561), 10.3% for fall 2024 (3,562 of 34,614) and 10.7% for fall 2023 (3,543 of 33,255). Applications rose by about 4,300 over the period while the number of admits stayed between 3,543 and 3,869. The Common Data Set gives one figure for the university and does not report Emory College and Oxford College separately, so no per-college rate is published.
Emory has two binding Early Decision rounds (ED I closing 1 November, ED II closing 1 January) and no early action plan. The Common Data Set combines the two ED rounds: 1,049 of 4,728 ED applicants were admitted for fall 2025 (22.2%), against 23.2% for fall 2024 and 24.8% for fall 2023. ED admits made up 27% of all fall 2025 admits (1,049 of 3,869). The early pool is self-selected, so the ED rate should not be read as the effect of applying early.
International applicants were admitted at 6.3% for fall 2025 (576 of 9,207), against 10.2% for Georgia residents and 11.9% for out-of-state US applicants; the international rate was 6.3% for fall 2024 and 6.6% for fall 2023. Few wait-listed students are admitted: 274 of the 6,422 who accepted a place for fall 2025 (4.3%). Transfer applicants were admitted at 22.7% for fall 2025 (544 of 2,399), up from 16.2% for fall 2024.
Applicants whose primary language is not English must show English proficiency unless they have an SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 700 or more, an ACT English score of 30 or more, or four years at an English-medium school; otherwise one of TOEFL, IELTS or the Duolingo English Test is required. Emory says it does not use strict cutoffs. It expects TOEFL iBT 100 on the 0–120 scale and recommends 5.5 or higher on the 1–6 scale used from 21 January 2026, and it expects an overall IELTS band of 7.5.
