McGill Acceptance Rate: Admissions Statistics and English Requirements
McGill does not publish an acceptance rate, but its own figures show 18,132 offers to 38,135 undergraduate applicants for fall 2025: an offer rate of 47.5%.
McGill's Enrolment Services publishes an Admissions Profile for each fall: the number of applicants, the number of offers of admission and the size of the entering class, for undergraduate/professional, continuing education and graduate programs, plus where the entering class comes from. The table below divides offers by applicants for the undergraduate/professional column; McGill itself does not label any figure an acceptance rate.

What the numbers mean
McGill reports applicants, offers and entering class, not an acceptance rate. Dividing offers by applicants gives 47.5% for fall 2025 and 48.1% for fall 2024, up from 39.5% for fall 2022 as applications fell from 42,968 to about 38,000 while offers rose. McGill counts each applicant once in the total even if they applied to several faculties, and the figures include degree, certificate and diploma programs.
This offer rate is an average across very different programs. McGill publishes applicants and registered students by admissions unit but not offers by unit: for fall 2025 Arts had 10,845 applicants, Science 10,354, Engineering 8,188 and Management 7,278. Entering-class sizes show how much programs differ: Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences registered 45 students from 829 applicants and Law 204 from 1,473, while Arts registered 2,204 from 10,845.
McGill does not publish offer rates for US or international applicants, so any acceptance rate for US or international students quoted elsewhere is not an official McGill figure. What McGill does publish is where the entering class comes from (based on the applicant's school): in fall 2025, 48.8% of new undergraduates came from Quebec, 22.4% from the rest of Canada, 13.7% from the USA and 15.1% from overseas.
Applicants whose first language is not English, and who do not meet one of McGill's exemptions, must submit an English test score. McGill publishes separate TOEFL minimums for the old 0–120 scale and the 1–6 scale introduced on 21 January 2026; they are below.
