What the numbers mean

FSU's first-year acceptance rate was 23.8% for fall 2025 (20,364 of 85,469), 24.2% for fall 2024 (18,954 of 78,272) and 25.4% for fall 2023 (18,793 of 74,038). Applications grew by more than 11,000 over the two years while the number admitted rose by about 1,600, so the rate has fallen each year.

Residency makes a large difference. For fall 2025 FSU admitted 34.0% of Florida residents (15,196 of 44,631), 13.5% of out-of-state US applicants (4,671 of 34,530) and 7.9% of international applicants (497 of 6,308). The international rate was 10.6% for fall 2024 and 8.1% for fall 2023. Of the 6,559 first-year students who enrolled in fall 2025, 72 were international.

FSU has a non-binding, non-restrictive early action plan with a 15 October deadline. Its 2025-26 Common Data Set also answers Yes to early decision, with a closing date of 15 October 2026 and notification on 17 December 2026, while the 2024-25 and 2023-24 editions answer No; FSU reports no early decision or early action applicant or admit counts. For fall 2025 it offered 3,750 wait-list places, 2,358 applicants accepted one and 5 were admitted. The 2024-25 edition reports no wait-list offers and the 2023-24 edition leaves the wait-list counts blank.

Transfer applicants were admitted at 30.8% for fall 2024 (2,753 of 8,944) and 28.1% for fall 2023 (2,313 of 8,218). The 2025-26 edition reports 5,877 transfer admits of 8,486 applicants (69.3%), but its row for women shows 4,536 admitted of 4,757 applicants, against 1,332 of 3,709 men and only 1,079 women enrolling; that cell looks like an error, so this page does not show the fall 2025 transfer rate in the table.
