IELTS Exam Fee 2026: How Much IELTS Costs in Each Country
There is no single IELTS price: each country and test centre sets its own fee, and Academic and General Training cost the same. In the United States it is US$340; in India ₹19,000; in London £265. Below are official fees for 20 countries, plus UKVI, One Skill Retake, refund and remark costs.

IELTS for UKVI, Life Skills and One Skill Retake fees
IELTS for UKVI usually costs a little more than the standard test, Life Skills less. The One Skill Retake lets you resit one section within 60 days of your test (IELTS); its price is set locally.

Cancellations, transfers and remarks
- Set by your centre: you can cancel any time before the test; the refund and any admin fee depend on your test centre. A transferred test must be within 3 months of the original date (IELTS).
- IELTS USA, computer test: 75% refund if you cancel 15 or more days before; no refund within 14 days. Transfers are free more than 15 days before, up to 25% admin fee at 5–14 days, not allowed within 4 days (IELTS USA terms).
- IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills: 75% refund more than 14 days before, 50% from 14 to 2 days, 25% within 2 days, nothing on or after the test day (UKVI terms).
- Examples elsewhere: India charges 25% on cancellation (allowed 9+ days before) and ₹4,750 to transfer; mainland China charges ¥380 to transfer or cancel.
- Enquiry on Results (remark): for example ₹14,250 in India or A$240 in Australia — refunded in full if your band score changes. Results come back within up to 21 days.

How much does the IELTS exam cost in 2026?
It depends on the country and test centre — IELTS has no single global price. On official pages read 2 October 2026: US$340 in the US (US$325 plus a US$15 admin fee at ELS centres), about CA$361 plus tax in Canada, £265 in London, ₹19,000 in India, ¥1,990 in mainland China and A$490 in Australia.
Is IELTS Academic more expensive than General Training?
No. IDP states the price is the same whether you take IELTS Academic or General Training.
Is the computer-delivered IELTS cheaper than paper?
It depends on the country. In India and mainland China both formats cost the same; in the UAE and Istanbul the paper-based Writing option costs more; in Pakistan IDP now offers only the computer test.
How much is the IELTS One Skill Retake?
It is set locally and usually costs less than the full test — for example ₹12,650 in India, A$310 in Australia and PKR 47,630–48,050 in Pakistan. You book it within 60 days of your original test.
Can I get a refund if I cancel my IELTS test?
Usually part of the fee, depending on how early you cancel and the centre's terms. For example, IELTS USA refunds 75% for a computer test cancelled 15 or more days before; IELTS for UKVI refunds 75% more than 14 days before, 50% from 14 to 2 days, 25% within 2 days.
