What the numbers mean
Dartmouth's acceptance rate was 6.0% for fall 2025, after 5.4% for fall 2024 and 6.2% for fall 2023. Applications fell from 31,656 for fall 2024 to 28,230 for fall 2025 while admits stayed near 1,700, which is what moved the rate. The fall 2024 total includes 690 applicants who reported another gender; that category is not in the fall 2025 edition.
Early Decision is binding and fills a large part of the class. For fall 2025 Dartmouth admitted 21.6% of ED applicants (768 of 3,552), more than three times the overall rate, and ED admits were 45.2% of all admits. The early pool differs from the regular pool, so the gap is not a pure advantage from applying early. About 70% of admitted students enroll.
Dartmouth reports how many international students applied but not how many were admitted: 8,163 international applicants for fall 2025, 9,968 for fall 2024 and 8,898 for fall 2023, with 154, 170 and 174 international students enrolling. Because international admits are not published, this page gives no international acceptance rate. Wait-list data is partial: the fall 2025 edition shows 2,497 offered a place but leaves the accepted and admitted lines blank; fall 2024 shows 29 admitted from 2,189 who accepted.

It does not accept TOEFL MyBest or TOEFL Essentials.
