What the numbers mean
UF's acceptance rate was 20.3% for fall 2025 (18,403 of 90,523), 24.2% for fall 2024 (17,804 of 73,557) and 24.0% for fall 2023 (15,707 of 65,375). Applications rose by almost 17,000 in a year while admits rose by about 600, which is why the fall 2025 rate is lower.
Unlike many state flagships, UF admits Florida residents and out-of-state applicants at similar rates: 22.3% and 20.5% for fall 2025, 23.8% and 23.3% for fall 2024. International applicants are the exception. Their applications rose from 5,159 to 8,931 between fall 2024 and fall 2025, while international admits fell from 1,676 to 930, so the international rate dropped from 32.5% to 10.4%. UF's fall 2023 edition gives totals only, with no residency split.
For fall 2025 UF had a non-binding early action plan (closing 1 November) and no early decision; it does not report early action counts. Its 2025-26 Common Data Set and admissions site add a binding early decision plan for the next cycle: Common App submission by 15 October 2026 and decisions by 11 December 2026. UF used a wait list for fall 2025 for the first time in these three years and admitted 1 of the 2,737 students who accepted a place.
UF's freshman international page does not state a minimum TOEFL or IELTS score; it asks for transcripts, a course-by-course credential evaluation and an SAT, ACT or CLT score. UF's transfer page sets TOEFL iBT 80 (on the 0–120 scale, not restated for the 2026 test) and IELTS Academic 6.0, and its graduate page sets TOEFL 4.5 with 4.0 in each section and IELTS Academic 6.5.
