Doctor Gupta

When students are preparing to graduate from university, they need to make decisions about what kind of company they want to work for. They might consider large, older companies with an established reputation, or possibly new start-up companies, which tend to be small but very focused on the future. Consider the advantages of each. Would it generally be better for a new university graduate to begin working for a large, established company, or for a small start-up company? Why?

Kelly

I think in general, the established company is the better choice. Because they’re already well-known, these companies have a certain amount of respect in the business community, so it would look good to have that job experience on your résumé. That advantage alone would be a great start for a recent graduate.

Andrew

I see your point, Kelly, but taking a position at a start-up company would offer so much excitement. They often have an energy that older companies can’t match—everyone can be focused on new, innovative business practices and they would be more aggressive about getting new clients. That would be a much better experience for someone fresh out of university!

In contrast, the new start-up company might suffer from low effecient as they is not prepared with much experience. In addition, the large company is equiped with basic facilities due to their many years of developping. Section Title: 6 Article Revision

In my opinion, joining a large, established company is more advantageous for recent university graduates as it offers a mature working environment and professional resources. While Andrew's argument that start-up companies possess ambition and a focus on acquiring clients is valid, the benefits of working for a large company outweigh those of start-ups.

Firstly, established companies have developed a productive work environment over the years, which can contribute to the professional growth of new graduates. In contrast, start-ups may face efficiency challenges due to their limited experience. Moreover, large companies are equipped with essential facilities and resources resulting from years of development. This not only helps resolve work-related issues but also supports employees' future career advancement. Therefore, I concur with Kelly's viewpoint that recent graduates would benefit more from working in a well-established organization. (139 words)

This perspective aligns with Kelly's viewpoint that the older companies have a mature management system, which allows me to adapt how to work in a right path and obtain more respect and patience from the experienced colleagues. As we all know, a good work enviroment plays a crucial role to the future development of workers. The workers in an old, established company can not only learn the specific knowledge from the experenced specialist but also enjoy the good management so that it can stimulate their ability and creation to do more meanfuling things. Comparing to the new company, everything you need to do every day, there are a lot of distractions in your daily work such as bad management and work report. Also, you would worry about the condition of the company. From the foregoing, working in a large and old company is a better choice for a graduate.

While Andrew raises a solid opposing point regarding several competitive advantages of working in a start-up company such as energetic innovation and more aggresive working style, he fails to consider the lack of experience and resilience when facing jeopardies, which may result in layoffs of large number of employees. Students are highly likely to suffer from unemployment because start-up companies fail to possess enough financial ability to keep long-term sustainability. Consequently, I think students should select established companies for better sustainability.

Andrew presents a compelling argument that working at a small start-up company is a better choice because it has more energy. However, considering the more and more competitive job market and the instability of economy in the world, I contend that it is more beneficial for new university graduates to take jobs in old established company. To be more specific, the employment market are full of excellent competitors who come from famous universities or have high academic credentials, and the economy also has been declined for years. Therefore the small start-up companies hardly to cope with the awful trend of economy, such as laking clients, reducing profit or increasing fixed cost, which leads to a higher risk of bankruptcy. Thus, if new university graduates working at established companies, they have no need to worry about their future career due to the stronger ability of large companies in dealing with the whole declining economy. In conclusion, the new university graduate should begin working for a large established company.

Title: 6 文章修订

While Andrew's argument that small start-up companies offer excitement and innovation is persuasive, I maintain that it is more advantageous for new university graduates to seek employment in established companies. The job market has become increasingly competitive, with numerous highly qualified candidates from prestigious institutions vying for positions. Moreover, the global economy has experienced a downturn in recent years, making it difficult for start-ups to navigate challenges such as acquiring clients, maintaining profits, and managing fixed costs. This precarious environment increases the likelihood of bankruptcy and instability for smaller enterprises.

On the other hand, large established companies possess greater resilience in weathering economic fluctuations and ensuring job security for their employees. By joining such organizations, new graduates can alleviate concerns about their future career prospects while benefiting from the respect and recognition associated with working for a reputable company. Therefore, it is in the best interest of new university graduates to pursue opportunities within well-established corporations. (159 words)

In response to the question, I am inclined to support the idea of joining a small start-up company for new university graduates. As Andrew mentioned, working in a start-up environment offers numerous opportunities for fresh graduates to gain hands-on experience, experiment with innovative practices, and actively participate in attracting clients. Furthermore, I believe that it is crucial for young professionals to develop advanced skills and practical work experience, which can be readily provided by start-up companies.

In addition to Andrew's points, I also concur that working in a start-up company allows graduates to expand their social networks. They will encounter various individuals during their endeavors, fostering valuable connections for future career growth. Conversely, working in a large company may limit one's exposure and interaction with diverse groups of people. This confinement could potentially hinder personal development and restrict opportunities for broader career advancement. (148 words)

I'd like to add that older companies provide people with stable income and high potential. Admittedly, we have heard several cases when young entrepreneurs finally become the CEO of small companies and boosted the fame in the international market. In my opinion, new university graduates would benefit more from working at a large, established company, as Kelly mentioned. Such companies provide a solid foundation for professional growth and exposure to experienced professionals in their respective fields.

Firstly, established companies typically have a workforce composed of highly skilled and experienced employees who possess extensive knowledge and hold prestigious certifications. As a result, recent graduates can learn valuable skills and gain practical insights from these experts. For instance, one of my classmates was hired by a top global corporation and has effectively utilized the company's career development plan to acquire updated skills and benefit from teamwork with seasoned professionals.

On the other hand, some may argue that joining a start-up company offers excitement and focuses on innovative business practices. However, I contend that established companies not only provide access to cutting-edge practices but also create opportunities for networking with knowledgeable colleagues who can serve as mentors. This combination of resources and connections fosters an ideal environment for new graduates to learn from the best in their field while also expanding their professional network.

In conclusion, while start-ups may offer an exciting work environment, large established companies provide a more comprehensive platform for recent graduates to develop their skills, gain valuable experience, and build meaningful connections with industry experts. (220 words)

From my perspective, I think a new university graduate should begin his or her career in a new start-up company. Apart from Andrew’s argument concerning the exciting experience in a start-up company, I believe working there can also help those fresh graduates become more competent and skilled. Specifically, a start-up company normally does not have a clear boundary among different positions; in other words, an employee may need to accomplish more tasks than he or she ought to do as in that position. Consequently, the new graduates working in start-ups can acquire knowledge in different fields of study, command various skills and get more chances to manage projects alone. For example, a programmer in a start-up company may need to do programming work and need to be responsible for the design of the internet products; at the same time, need to administrate the whole department. As a result, a graduate can get honed and become a generalist in the workforce. Admittedly, some may claim that working in a large and well-established company can add luster to the resume due to its great reputation; as Kelly mentions. However, capacity should be given priority to. Graduates who have great strength and wealth of practical experiences can always stand out among the competitors in the job market.

In my opinion, new university graduates should begin their careers at start-up companies. In addition to Andrew's point about the exciting atmosphere in a start-up, I believe working in such an environment can help fresh graduates become more competent and skilled.

One reason for this is that start-ups typically have less rigid boundaries between different positions. This means that employees may need to take on a wider range of tasks than they would in a more established company. As a result, new graduates working in start-ups can gain knowledge across various fields, develop diverse skills, and have more opportunities to manage projects independently. For instance, a programmer at a start-up might be responsible not only for coding but also for product design and department administration. This experience can help graduates become well-rounded professionals in the workforce.

While some may argue that joining a large, established company can enhance one's resume due to its prestigious reputation, as Kelly suggests, I believe that competence should take precedence. Graduates who possess strong abilities and practical experience will always stand out among competitors in the job market. (188 words)

Specifically, a start-up company normally does not One reason for this is that start-ups typically have a less rigid boundaries between different positions (Changed "a clear boundary among different positions; in other words, an employee boundary" to "less rigid boundaries" for better phrasing). This means that employees may need to accomplish more take on a wider range of tasks than he or she ought to do as in that position. Consequently, the they would in a more established company. As a result, new graduates working in start-ups can acquire gain knowledge in different fields of study, command across various skills and get fields, develop diverse skills, and have more chances opportunities to manage projects alone. independently. For example, instance, a programmer in a start-up company may need to do programming work and need to at a start-up might be responsible for the not only for coding but also for product design and department administration (Changed "the design of the internet products; at the same time, need to administrate the whole department. As a result, a graduate can get honed and products" to "product design" for simplicity). This experience can help graduates become a generalist well-rounded professionals in the workforce.

Admittedly, While some may claim that working in a large and well-established argue that joining a large, established company can add luster to the enhance one's resume due to its great reputation; prestigious reputation, as Kelly mentions. However, capacity suggests, I believe that competence should take precedence (Changed "capacity should be given priority to. to" to "competence should take precedence" for better phrasing). Graduates who have great strength and wealth of possess strong abilities and practical experiences can experience will always stand out among the competitors in the job market.

  1. Article Revision

I concur with Andrew's perspective that joining a small start-up company may yield greater advantages for recent graduates. I would like to emphasize the potential for reduced physical and mental pressure in such an environment.

In large, established companies, high standards and demanding workloads can be overwhelming for inexperienced graduates. Consequently, they may struggle to complete tasks within deadlines, leading to overtime and inadequate rest. This continuous stress can result in physical health issues and exacerbate feelings of frustration when encountering work-related challenges, potentially contributing to mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety.

On the other hand, small start-up companies often provide more flexible time management options for their employees. Graduates can complete assignments at a manageable pace and even enjoy additional vacation time for relaxation and rejuvenation. This balanced approach fosters a virtuous cycle where well-rested individuals return to work with increased energy and motivation, ultimately benefiting both the employee and the company as a whole. I agree with Kelly that established companies generally provide a more suitable environment for recent university graduates, offering stability and long-term prospects. Renowned organizations have already navigated the market and developed products that resonate with consumers. The profits and respect accumulated over the years instill confidence in employees regarding their career trajectory, rather than constantly worrying about job security. In today's competitive job market, where unemployment rates remain high, stability is of paramount importance. For instance, my brother, a Caltech graduate who joined Google, has experienced steady salary growth due to the opportunities provided by this established company. It is difficult to envision the financial strain he might have faced had he chosen a start-up and been forced to change jobs frequently. While Andrew emphasizes the excitement of working in a smaller organization, one cannot ignore its potential drawbacks such as instability and lower remuneration. (149 words)

For instance, working at a renowned company can provide a competitive salary and access to a well-developed system that cultivates comprehensive knowledge. Additionally, being employed by a popular company can foster all-rounded personal development, which proves beneficial in the long run.

While it is true that joining a start-up company may offer excitement and innovation, one must also consider the risks involved. Start-ups are often unstable and can present various challenges such as inconsistent salaries or job security. I believe it's better for a new university graduate to begin working at a large, established company, as new graduates can grow faster and learn more at the start of their career, which benefits their long-term career development. To be more specific, established companies typically have comprehensive management and employee training systems, which help university graduates become familiar with their roles and acquire expertise quickly, laying a solid foundation for their career path. For instance, Johnson & Johnson, the renowned medical equipment company, assigns mentors to fresh graduates upon their joining. Through one-on-one communication, new graduates can effectively address the challenges they encounter at work. Furthermore, Johnson & Johnson offers online medical expertise courses for employees from non-medical backgrounds, enhancing their ability to communicate effectively with clients. While Andrew notes that innovative business practices in startups can be exhilarating for fresh graduates, these practices often require employees to learn independently and adapt quickly to a rapidly changing market and work environment. This can be particularly challenging for new graduates lacking experience.
