ProfessorToday, we will examine what economists call incentives-the motivations that lead people to make certain choices. Cost is a major category of economic incentives. People tend to change their behavior when a particular choice gets more expensive. Let's discuss an example. Some economists argue that a good way to reduce air pollution is for governments to raise the cost(through taxes or other means) of fuel for cars. Do you agree or disagree with this viewpoint? Why?
Student AI think it would be a good idea to raise fuel prices. Making it more expensive to drive cars would cause many people to choose public transportation or use bicycles instead. In my city, they've just added bicycle lanes to all of the major roads. So, it would be easy to give up driving.
Student BI disagree. Why should individuals be punished with such an added expense in their daily lives? The argument for a consumer fuel tax makes the assumption that cars are the biggest source of air pollution, and we need to question if that’s an accurate assumption.

考生範例
Nowdays, the air pollution problem is getting worse and worse. Some people may suggest that we should use raise the price of fuels to controll the use of private cars. In my opinion, it may do some good to the problem, however, it may cause more problems in our life. Firstly, we are so dependent on private vehicles to work and travel. Using public transportation will cost too much time for us sometimes. So it's not realistic for some people who are already tired out in their work and life. They may still prefer to use private cars in the end. Secondly, we cannot avoiding the problem of air pollution simply by rasing the price of fuel. Because many people may choose to pay the price to get more convenience. Last but not least, we still need to use private cars in many cases like when we have ergency and important things, and it is common for everyone to have this kind of situation sometimes. So I think we should focus on new cleaner energy fuel. In this way, we can solve the problem once and for all.

Title: 6 文章修订
Nowadays, the issue of air pollution is becoming increasingly severe. Some individuals propose raising fuel prices to control private car usage. While this approach may have some benefits, I believe it could lead to additional problems in our daily lives.
Firstly, many people rely heavily on private vehicles for work and travel. Utilizing public transportation can be time-consuming and may not be a feasible option for those with demanding schedules. Consequently, these individuals might continue to use their cars despite the increased cost.
Secondly, simply raising fuel prices may not effectively address air pollution since numerous people might still choose to pay the higher price for the sake of convenience. Thus, this measure alone would not guarantee a significant reduction in private car usage or emissions.
Lastly, there are situations where using a private car is essential, such as emergencies or important events. It is unrealistic to expect people to completely abandon their vehicles under such circumstances. Instead of focusing solely on raising fuel prices, efforts should be directed towards developing cleaner energy sources and promoting their adoption. This approach would provide a more comprehensive and long-lasting solution to the problem of air pollution. (197 words)
