タスク概要

読解パッセージ

Move-in Schedule The week before classes begin is typically a hectic and confusing time with everybody moving back into the dormitories again. Currently, students can decide for themselves when to move in during that week, and the result is that many people wind up moving in on the same day, which creates chaos and crowding in the dorms. To make this process more efficient, I think the university should create a schedule that assigns each student a specific day for moving in. This change would allow students assigned to days earlier in the week to volunteer to help students assigned later days to move. Sincerely, Mike Santos

4.话题发展 The speaker provides a coherent and well-organized response, but there is room for improvement in topic development. To enhance the response, the speaker should focus on the following suggestions: 1) Clearly summarize the proposal in the reading passage, mentioning that it suggests assigning specific move-in days for students to avoid chaos and crowding; 2) When explaining the woman's opinion, ensure that her reasons are accurately presented and connected to the proposal; for example, mention that she agrees because it would make the process more efficient and provide opportunities for students to volunteer and make friends. By addressing these points, the speaker can develop a stronger response with clear connections between ideas and sufficient support or examples.

Original Answer: A student proposes that the movie should be set on a specific day for each student, A student proposes that the move-in should be scheduled on a specific day for each student, (电影应改为搬家安排) and the woman in the conversation strongly agrees for two reasons. Firstly, it will make the whole process more easier, easier, (去掉多余的more) because the new domes are all high buildings, each with only a couple of elevators, so it will take students a long time to wait to get into the elevators, which is a painful process. And for example, the woman's parents, who takes 45 minutes to get into the elevators. And second, it will be easier for students to arrange their volunteer work, because they don't have class right away, so they have time to help with others, thus they can make a lot of friends and go out to play together.

Revised Answer (140 words):

A student proposes that the move-in should be scheduled on a specific day for each student, and the woman in the conversation strongly agrees for two reasons. Firstly, it will make the entire process easier because the new dormitories are high-rise buildings with limited elevators, causing students to wait for extended periods to access them. For instance, the woman's parents had to wait 45 minutes just to use an elevator. Secondly, assigning specific move-in days would facilitate volunteer work arrangements among students. Since classes do not begin immediately, students have ample time to assist others with their move-in process. This opportunity allows them to make new friends and engage in social activities together.

Revised Answer (140 words):

The proposal suggested that the university should acquire a 3D printer. By doing so, it would benefit students majoring in architecture or engineering and be centrally located in the library. As a result, it would be easily accessible to everyone. The woman had mixed feelings about this proposal. She thinks that it's a significant improvement because creating models manually is time-consuming, and mastering 3D printer technology is essential for future job prospects. For instance, during her internship at an architecture firm last spring, she witnessed how detailed models could be printed using a 3D printer. However, she expressed concerns about its location. The 3D printer might become too popular, leading to long waiting times for its use. Therefore, she suggested placing the 3D printer in specialized locations such as the engineering or architecture buildings to better serve those who need it most.

The woman agrees with the first suggestion because she finds it inconvenient to walk a long distance for lunch, especially when her classes are located far from the dining hall. She believes that having more choices, such as using meal passes at the library café or other campus dining locations, would be beneficial for students like her. (原句表述不够准确,修改为更符合题意的描述。) In order for students not to choose a poor roommate, To prevent students from making hasty decisions, (修改为更符合上下文的描述。) the school needs to discourage students by charging them a small sum of money. This way, it will limit the request to those not who need it. The woman agreed with this method, and it's true that this sort of proposal is getting quite serious. For instance, her roommate loved to study late, and this annoyed her drastically because she did not sleep well at that time, and eventually it did not work out well. So this plan could significantly help her. Besides, most students don't have a lot of money on their hands because all of them don't have part-time jobs. Therefore, in order to not waste money, the school can use this method in order to prevent room change requests.

Revised Answer (140 words):

The proposal suggests allowing first-year students to request a room change at any time. To prevent students from making hasty decisions, the university should charge a small fee for room change requests, limiting them to those who genuinely need it. The woman agrees with this approach, as she believes it addresses serious issues like her own experience with an incompatible roommate who disrupted her sleep and negatively impacted her studies. She thinks that this policy could have significantly helped her in that situation. Furthermore, she points out that most students have limited financial resources, as many do not have part-time jobs. Therefore, the fee would encourage students to carefully consider their decision before requesting a room change, ensuring that only those with genuine needs would utilize this option.

修订版(140字):

In the letter, the student suggests that the university should change the meal plan to be more flexible. They propose allowing students to use their meal passes at various campus locations and providing a carry-out option. The woman in the conversation agrees with this proposal, mainly because science buildings are far from the dining hall. She believes that if a student wants to attend biology classes, for example, they would have to rush between the dining hall and their classroom. However, she is uncertain about the carry-out option, as it might be a hassle for students who need to plan ahead.

Original Answer: Students in the letter suggest that the university should hold the career fair at the beginning of the year. However, the woman in the listening part doesn't like this idea, because firstly she says that if the university does this, students will not have enough time to prepare, like thinking about their future career life and getting information on the internet and stuff like that. Secondly, she thinks that it's quite unnecessary for the university to hold a whole day long fair for students, since this fair is not a formal interview. Therefore, a two hour long fair is quite enough for students to get information.

Corrected Answer: The letter suggests that the university should hold the career fair at the beginning of the year. However, the woman in the listening passage disagrees with this idea. First, she believes that if the university does this, students will not have sufficient time to prepare, such as considering their future careers and researching information online. Second, she thinks it's unnecessary for the university to hold an all-day event for students since this fair is not a formal interview. Consequently, a two-hour fair would be adequate for students to gather information. (将部分表达进行了修改,使其更自然流畅,并使用了更高级的词汇。同时,对语法进行了调整,使句子结构更加清晰。)

Revised Answer (140 words): The letter proposes that the university should organize its career fair at the beginning of each academic year. Nevertheless, the woman in the listening passage disagrees with this suggestion for two main reasons. Firstly, she argues that holding the event early in the year would leave students with insufficient time to adequately prepare themselves by contemplating their future career paths and conducting online research. Secondly, she believes that it is unnecessary for the university to arrange an all-day event, as the career fair is not a formal interview setting. Instead, she contends that a two-hour fair would be more than sufficient for students to gather relevant information and interact with company representatives. By addressing these concerns, the woman effectively presents her viewpoint on why the current scheduling of the career fair should remain unchanged.
