Our next class will focus on how companies maintain their staffing levels. While it is important for a company to look for new employees to fill open positions, many believe it is equally important for a company to retain the workers it already has on staff. In your opinion, what is the best way for a company to encourage its employees to stay at the company instead of seeking a different job elsewhere?
Paul
I think the best thing a company could do to keep its employees is to create a work environment that employees look forward to going to five days a week. Cramped office spaces or disorderly factory floors are not places I would want to spend a third of my life.
Claire
I see Paul’s point. But even more important than a nice workspace is making sure the employees don’t feel stuck in their jobs. Companies should offer opportunities for employees to advance their skills so they can get new positions within the company if they want. Employees should feel like they have a goal to work toward.

While I find both Claire and Paul have made compelling arguments regarding the manners of companies to retain employees, I am firmly of the opinion that the best way is to offer a clear path for advancement to senior-level positions. To be more specific, a company should have more structure to help manage its team and follow established procedures with responsibilities divided between multiple departments. For instance, new employees may feel that they have less influence on daily operations, but companies offer a clear path for advancement to senior-level positions, often based on seniority and performance. As for the view provided by Pual, I perceive a somewhat limitation within his argument. To elaborate, a company that provides a good environment don’t always provide a good salary. However, companies with clear career development opportunities typically operate under a steady flow of income.

Title: 6 文章修订
While both Claire and Paul present valid points regarding employee retention strategies, I firmly believe that offering a clear path for career advancement is the most effective approach. Specifically, companies should establish structured management systems and well-defined procedures, with responsibilities distributed across various departments. By doing so, new employees may initially feel they have limited influence on daily operations; however, a transparent progression plan based on seniority and performance can alleviate such concerns.
Paul's argument, while important, has certain limitations. A pleasant work environment does not necessarily guarantee competitive salaries or long-term job satisfaction. On the other hand, companies that prioritize career development opportunities often operate with a stable revenue stream, enabling them to provide better financial incentives to their employees.
In addition to Claire's suggestion of skill advancement opportunities, companies should also consider implementing mentorship programs and continuous learning initiatives. These efforts can further empower employees to grow within the organization and contribute more effectively to its success. Ultimately, fostering a culture of professional growth and development will encourage employees to remain loyal to the company and reduce turnover rates. (184 words)
