Professor
This semester, I've launched a study delving into the myriad factors that shape children's cognitive development. It's becoming abundantly clear that a child's environment plays a pivotal role in their growth. Given this backdrop, an intriguing question emerges: should parents permit their children to watch online videos, whether for educational enrichment or mere entertainment? I invite you to share your thoughts on this pressing issue, especially in the context of its potential impact on a child's cognitive development
Student A
Young children, particularly those under the age of two, should not be exposed to video content. During this formative stage, it's vital for their cognitive and social development to engage in genuine, real-world interactions. Videos, irrespective of their educational value, simply cannot offer this level of meaningful engagement. As for older children, it's crucial to prioritize physical activities over prolonged periods of screen time. Rather than remaining sedentary in front of digital devices, they should be actively encouraged to move and play, which is fundamental for their holistic well-being.
Student B
I agree that very young children shouldn't be exposed to videos. However, I believe that older children can benefit from watching certain videos, especially those that showcase animals or provide unique insights not easily encountered in everyday life. These videos can be educational and expand their horizons by offering a window into experiences they might not otherwise have access to.

I think both student A and B share valuable opinion about the limitation to allow children to have access of online videos at young age, however, I support that children can watch selective videos at very young age with supervision. Many professional institutions have invented some videos targeting a wide range of children at different age. Those videos all utilize advanced educational theory to help children cultivate important abilities, including cognitive development. It gives children from different backgrounds the fair chance to get the education at young age, which will be important for their future development. Furthermore, those videos actually encourage children to explore the real world by participating in some outdoor activities and experiencing some natural life. In that case, the online videos have positive impact on children's well-being and let them have more interests on physical activities

I sincerely concur with A’s perspective, which emphasizes the significance of artistic subjects. My reasons are as follows: Artistic subjects not only teach students how to paint or sing, but they also offer them great opportunities to do critical thinking by combining various viewpoints from critics from home and abroad. When the students foster their own new ideas from considering abundant information, they are asked to think critically. The imagination and critical thinking skills from those courses benefit for their study, such as mathematics and science, and future careers. People with imaginative minds can develop innovative solutions and are more competitive in the job market. Although some may argue that traditional academic disciplines are more critical, devoting too much time to those classes may make students get bored, which cannot provide long-term benefits.

I wholeheartedly agree with Student A's viewpoint, which highlights the importance of incorporating artistic subjects into the curriculum. My rationale is as follows:
Artistic subjects not only instruct students in painting or singing but also present them with invaluable opportunities to engage in critical thinking by examining diverse perspectives from both domestic and international critics. As students synthesize new ideas from a wealth of information, they are challenged to think critically. The imagination and critical thinking skills acquired through these courses can be advantageous for their studies in other fields, such as mathematics and science, as well as their future careers. Individuals possessing imaginative minds are capable of devising innovative solutions and tend to be more competitive in the job market.
While some may contend that traditional academic disciplines hold greater significance, allocating excessive time to these subjects may lead to student disengagement, ultimately hindering long-term benefits. (150 words)

Section Title: 6 Article Revision
In my opinion, incorporating outdoor classes once a month is a crucial approach to enhancing students' education. As students in today's fast-paced society, they often face immense pressure and responsibilities from various aspects, such as essays, group projects, and oral presentations. Remaining in the classroom all day can lead to the accumulation of stress that may be difficult to alleviate. Outdoor classes serve as an effective method for not only relieving students' stress but also improving their physical and mental well-being.
By providing students with the opportunity to explore nature on a monthly basis, they can gain a deeper appreciation for the world around them, observing phenomena such as tundra landscapes, blooming flowers, and butterflies in their natural habitats. This exposure helps broaden their horizons and pique their curiosity about pressing issues in our environment. For example, by observing environmental conditions firsthand, students may develop innovative solutions to address water pollution or other ecological concerns, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable future for society. Consequently, I firmly believe that implementing outdoor classes would greatly benefit students and is a change worth considering. (187 words)

In this academic discussion, both Andrew and Claire present compelling arguments regarding the pursuit of advanced degrees. Andrew advocates for full-time enrollment, emphasizing the importance of focus and efficiency in completing one's education. On the other hand, Claire supports part-time studies while working, arguing that immediate application of learned concepts in a professional setting enhances the educational experience. Personally, I find myself aligning more with Andrew's perspective on dedicating oneself to full-time studies.
Firstly, I struggle to support Claire's viewpoint due to potential limitations in job opportunities for those without advanced degrees. Many companies prefer candidates with master's degrees, which raises doubts about the ease of securing a desirable job after completing only a bachelor's degree. Furthermore, I believe that dividing one's attention between academics and work may lead to decreased performance in both areas due to distraction and mental exhaustion.
Lastly, financial concerns should not be a significant deterrent for pursuing full-time education. Numerous colleges and universities offer financial aid and student loans to assist students in covering tuition costs. This support allows individuals to focus on their studies without being burdened by financial stress or the need to work simultaneously. (195 words)
In this academic discussion board, discussion, both Andrew and Claire present compelling arguments (revised for clarity and conciseness) regarding the pursuit of advanced degrees. Andrew advocates for full-time enrollment, emphasizing the importance of focus and efficiency in completing one's education (rephrased to better convey Andrew's argument). While Andrew argues that a full-time graduate course would be plausible for him hinges on the lack of versatility of himeself, Claire highlightes an alternative view suggesting that people should take part-time classess in order to complete a exprienced resume. Genuinely, my stance closely aligns with Andrew, which suggests that people should dedicate in covering tuition costs (corrected grammar). This support allows individuals to focus on their work. ¶ Primarily, I find it difficult to support Claire's viewpoint. Many cooperations aren't likely to accept candidates who don't possess a master degree in their resume, I doubt that people will virtually find a decent job after they graduate from their Bachelor degree. Moreover, I do believe that people cannot distribute their mind on two important events happening concurrently, the distration might cause failure to both academical researches and studies without being burdened by financial stress or the need to work producitvity ¶ Additionally, economic situation of family is not a problem, since in nowadays there are numerous colleges and universities which provide financial-aids and student loan for studentssimultaneously (expanded explanation).

I agree with the student B's perspective about the students cannot stay up too late and establish consistent sleep schedules, but I'm inclined to support the shift because the change will give students substantial time to maintain enough sleep hours, which will be essential for students' health. Starting school at 7:30 am means students must get up around 6 am considering breakfast and commute time. It also means the students must fall asleep before 10 pm last night in order to maintain 8- hour rest time. With the trends of heavier after-class homework, students tend to finish all the arrangements later. Meanwhile, it also squeezes the gathering and communication time with family members. Night time may be the only chance that all family members can get together and share their daily life. If students must go to bed that early, they may lose the chance to deeply talk with their parents.

Example 1: Instead of "With the trends of heavier after-class homework, students tend to finish all the arrangements later.", you could write "As students are often burdened with a significant amount of homework, they may find it challenging to complete their assignments before a reasonable bedtime."

If students must go to bed that early, they may lose the chance to deeply talk with their parents.
Section Title: 6 Article Revision
While I concur with Student B's assertion that students should avoid staying up too late and establish consistent sleep schedules, I am more inclined to support the idea of shifting school start times to 8:30 a.m. This change would provide students with ample opportunity to obtain sufficient sleep, which is crucial for their overall health and well-being. A 7:30 a.m. start time necessitates waking up around 6 a.m., factoring in breakfast and commute, and consequently requires students to fall asleep before 10 p.m. the previous night in order to achieve the recommended eight hours of rest.
However, given the increasing workload from after-school assignments, students often find themselves completing tasks late into the night. This not only encroaches upon their sleep but also diminishes valuable family time. Evenings may be the only opportunity for family members to gather and share their daily experiences. By requiring students to retire early, we risk depriving them of meaningful interactions with their parents, which are essential for fostering strong familial bonds and emotional well-being. Personally speaking, it’s of great significance for the children to have regular outdoor activities once a month. First of all, the children in this age group have enormous curiosity of the nature. The opportunities of taking part in outdoor activities allow children to touch with the nature and see different landscapes which can help them to gain tangible experience. For example, they always look at different books describing the geographic patterns. The outdoor activities can help children to understand these complex patterns and motivate them to study. However, Kelly mentions that the outdoor activities are burdensome for teachers. In fact, outdoor activities provide teachers with an opportunity to relax themselves. If teachers take the outdoor activities, they don’t need to do something required in the class such as correct their homework. In contrast, they can communicate with the children so as to have a better preparation for the future teaching targets. Therefore, the outdoor activities are essential for these children once a month. The children will be full of expectation to take part in the activities monthly.

Undoubtedly, incorporating monthly outdoor activities for children aged 5-18 holds immense value. Primarily, students within this age range possess a natural curiosity about the world around them. Engaging in outdoor experiences enables them to interact with diverse environments, fostering a deeper understanding of complex concepts they encounter in books and other resources. For instance, exploring various geographical patterns firsthand can significantly enhance their comprehension and stimulate their desire to learn.
While some argue that such activities impose an additional burden on teachers, it is essential to consider the potential benefits for educators as well. Participating in outdoor excursions offers teachers a refreshing break from routine classroom tasks like grading assignments. Moreover, these experiences facilitate meaningful interactions with students, allowing educators to gain insights that can inform and enrich future teaching objectives. Consequently, monthly outdoor activities are not only advantageous for students but also beneficial for teachers in fostering a more dynamic and engaging learning environment. (160 words)

Amidst intensified competition, the society has witnessed a tendency where a heightened emphasis is laid on efficient teaching method. As far as I’m concerned, I believe project-based learning is more effective. To start with, it helps reinforce the memory of the knowledge and skills learned from it. Compared to being imparted by our teachers, it’s surely more impressive if we explore the knowledge by ourselves and practice it in the project, enabling us to learn more efficiently. Furthermore, during the project, we can learn knowledge beyond the lecture. Through working together, we exchange our ideas, reach an agreement and develop our argument structure to perfectly finish our project, gaining a wealth of interpersonal skills and critical thinking skill and form a spirit of teamwork, which will surely contribute to our future development.in addition, we can enlarge our social circle. So in short, I believe project-based learning is better.
