Professor
This week, we’ll examine issues in education reform. For example, some educators think that by focusing mainly on foundational knowledge in subjects like reading, math, and science, schools are not fully preparing students for success in the workplace. These educators argue that soft skills-nonacademic skills such as being empathetic or having a strong work ethic – should be part of the curriculum, with classroom time dedicated to developing these skills. Do you agree? Why or why not?
Claire
I agree. While students need a strong foundation in academic subjects, soft skills are important because they affect how well students do their work. If classroom time is set aside for these skills, students will take them seriously and their academic work will benefit. Teachers could design lessons so that students learn about a skill and then do role-playing activities with classmates.
Andrew
Soft skills are important, but I don't agree with using classroom time to work on them. I'm not sure how teachers would measure students' progress in developing these skills. If students' progress can't be measured on something being taught. I'm not sure if there's any point to teaching it.

Esempio Utente
I strongly agree with Claire’s statement that soft skills are important because these skills have influence on their work. In my opinion, soft skills even more important than academic proficiency. Having strong soft skills means that peope can armed with brilliant academic preformance because they know how to develop their acdemic. What’s more, they are more likely to be disciplined and considerate of the feelings or interests of others. which is the key of work social. On the contrary, I disagree with Andrew’s proposal that soft skills souldn’t use classtime just because can’t be measured. I think it isn’t a problem that we don’t know how to measure what being taught. Actually, parents still teach children what is love while they are hardly to measure how much children learning. The soft skills are simillary, they needn’t to measure. It is about making sure everyone has what can not be missed.

I wholeheartedly concur with Claire's assertion that soft skills are crucial, as they significantly impact an individual's performance in the workplace. In fact, I believe that soft skills may hold even greater importance than academic proficiency. Possessing strong soft skills enables individuals to excel academically, as they understand how to develop their knowledge effectively. Furthermore, individuals with well-developed soft skills are more likely to be disciplined and considerate of others' feelings or interests, which is essential for fostering a harmonious work environment.
Conversely, I cannot support Andrew's argument against allocating classroom time for soft skills development solely because their progress cannot be easily measured. The inability to quantify certain aspects of learning should not preclude their inclusion in the curriculum. For instance, parents often teach their children about love without any means of measuring how much they have learned. Similarly, the development of soft skills need not be quantifiable; rather, it is about ensuring that every student acquires these indispensable life tools. (166 words)

I wholeheartedly concur with Claire's assertion that soft skills play a crucial role in students' overall success, as they significantly impact their work performance. In fact, I believe that possessing robust soft skills may even surpass the importance of academic prowess. Individuals equipped with strong soft skills are more likely to excel academically, as they understand how to effectively develop their intellectual abilities. Furthermore, they tend to exhibit greater discipline and empathy towards others' feelings and interests, which are essential components of workplace social dynamics.
Conversely, I cannot support Andrew's contention that classroom time should not be allocated for soft skills development simply because progress in this area is difficult to measure. The inability to quantify certain aspects of learning does not negate their value or necessity. For instance, parents often teach their children about love without being able to measure the extent of their understanding. Similarly, soft skills need not be quantifiable; rather, the focus should be on ensuring that all students acquire these indispensable competencies. (170 words)
