University Makes Changes to Orientation Program  Madison University is making a change to the orientation program for first-year students. In the past, as part of orientation, new, incoming students could go on a two-day hiking and camping trip together with other incoming students on the weekend before classes begin. In order to encourage more students to take advantage of the opportunity to get to know one another in an informal setting, the university will now offer a choice of activities: students will be able to either go hiking or participate in organized group games on campus. Additionally, these activities will last one day only, not two, a change many students had requested.

Revised Answer (140 words): The reading passage states that the university plans to modify the orientation program for first-year students, and the man supports this change for two reasons. This way, more students can participate in an activity they enjoy. Secondly, he mentioned that not everyone wants to dedicate their entire weekend to the orientation program. Corrected Answer: In the reading material, the university changed the orientation program to include one day of on-campus activities. In the listening material, the man approves of this change, firstly, because not everyone enjoys sleeping in a tent and now students have alternative options; and secondly, students no longer need to spend an entire weekend on this activity and can dedicate one day to prepare for their classes.

Revised Answer (140 words): The reading passage states that Madison University has made changes to its orientation program for first-year students by offering a choice between hiking or participating in organized group games on campus. These activities will now last only one day instead of two. In the listening passage, the man expresses his approval of these changes for two main reasons. First, he believes that offering a choice of activities will cater to a wider range of student preferences, as not everyone enjoys camping and sleeping in tents. Second, he thinks that reducing the duration of the orientation activities to one day will allow students to better manage their time and focus on other important tasks, such as buying textbooks and preparing for their first day of classes.

Original: The Madison University proposes is proposing (建议使用进行时,表示正在进行的动作) to provide a choice of activities for incoming students, and it lasts only one day. The man in the recording agrees with the proposition change (为保持一致性,使用“change”替换“proposition”) and says that it should be implemented two years ago. Firstly, he thinks that because not everyone likes the same thing, so it is better to let students choose which activity they should participate. And secondly, the man argues that if the activity only lasts for one day, the students could not give up the whole weekend, which is a fantastic thing. And actually, he thinks that students have many other things to do during the weekend, such as preparing for the incoming semesters, and big-time commitments used to get in the way.

Revised (140 words): Madison University is proposing to provide a choice of activities for incoming students, lasting only one day. The man in the recording agrees with the change and believes it should have been implemented two years ago. He thinks that since not everyone enjoys the same activities, offering a choice allows students to participate in what interests them. Additionally, he argues that having a one-day activity prevents students from giving up their entire weekend, which is beneficial. He believes that students have other important tasks to complete during their first weekend on campus, such as preparing for the upcoming semester and settling into their new environment. By reducing the time commitment of orientation activities, more students can participate without sacrificing their valuable time.

The orientation program for first-year students at Madison University will now offer a one-day trip or campus event, and the man in the conversation holds a positive view towards this change. He believes that providing a choice of activities will attract more students because not everyone enjoys doing the same things. In the past, many students missed out on the orientation program because they did not like hiking and camping. By offering multiple activities, more students can participate and benefit from this opportunity to connect with their peers. Furthermore, the man appreciates that this change can save an entire weekend for incoming students, allowing them to focus on preparing for their first days at university. Thus, he strongly agrees with this modification to the orientation program.

Revised Answer (140 words):

In the reading passage, it was mentioned that Madison University made changes to the orientation program for first-year students. Instead of the previous two-day hiking trip, students now have a choice between going hiking and participating in organized group games on campus. In the conversation, the man expresses his agreement with this change, stating that it has become more attractive due to these modifications. Firstly, he thinks that since people have different preferences, not all students want to participate in hiking activities. Secondly, he believes that if students have to go hiking for two days, they would need to give up their entire weekend. This is inconvenient as students are usually very busy during their first week of school, needing time to buy books and prepare for their classes. Overall, the man supports the change because it offers more options and is less time-consuming for students.
