Today, we are going to discuss how successful software and tech products are launched and marketed. When companies launch and market these products, early adopters are important. Early adopters are customers who tend to buy the latest products and like to be the first to try out new features and processes. In today's discussion, I would like you to describe at least one advantage or disadvantage of being an early adopter. Please explain why you think this way.

Kelly

One obvious disadvantage is that early adopters probably pay a lot more for brand-new technology. When products first come out, they're often quite expensive, but once they’ve been on the market for a while, the price usually drops. That's why l usually wait to buy new technology.

Andrew

New tech products might not always be more expensive -- sometimes the company will give people a new product at a discount in exchange for trying it out and giving feedback on it. In fact, to me, that's the biggest advantage of being an early adopter - your feedback can guide future improvements to a product. That's a powerful feeling.

In the response to the question, I agree with Kelly's perspective that early adopters will suffer heavy cost of the new products. It is well-known that high-tech products are more expensive than other products. But the alternative products which will be less expensive, will come up a few months later. Even lately products will put some discount, it still cost more than the alternative products. Moreover, the users of new products will suffer great risks than later users. For instance, Accessing new products, such as new platforms, will make the internet virus easily to attack users' computers, causing accounts and important files lost. Consequently, I firmly maintain that being a early adopters of new products not only cost higher expenses but also put risks on computer security.

Example 1: Instead of only mentioning the high cost, you could also discuss how early adopters may experience more technical issues or bugs in the software, which can be frustrating and time-consuming to resolve.

Example 2: You could mention how early adopters may have limited access to support resources, such as user guides or customer service, as companies are still refining their support systems for new products.

Example 2: For a body paragraph, you could start with a topic sentence like: "One major disadvantage of being an early adopter is the high cost of new technology products." Then, provide examples and explanations to support this point.

Section Title: 6 Article Revision

In response to the discussion question, I concur with Kelly's viewpoint that early adopters often face the significant financial burden of acquiring new products. It is common knowledge that cutting-edge technology typically comes with a higher price tag compared to alternatives that emerge a few months later. Even if initial offerings include discounts, they generally remain more expensive than subsequent alternatives. Furthermore, early adopters may encounter greater risks than those who wait. For example, utilizing novel products such as emerging platforms can make users more susceptible to cyberattacks, potentially leading to the loss of critical data and account information. Therefore, I firmly believe that being an early adopter not only entails higher expenses but also poses risks to computer security. (125 words)

In my opinion, not being an adopter is advantageous. The primary rationale behind this is that the using experience is uncertain. Sometimes, the brand-new technology is not the best choice, since there might be a large number of disadvantages among these products, such impractical handles, useless switch and so on. Being an adopter, people need to not only pay for its high price, but also take risk on its uncertain quality. Take my brother as an example. My brother was crazed about the assassin creed and when new games of this series came out, he bought it immediately. However, once he bought the game in a high price, he found that the game had lots of bugs. In a word, become an adopter is not a good choice.

Section Title: 6

Revised Essay: In my perspective, refraining from being an early adopter presents certain advantages. The primary reason for this belief is the uncertainty surrounding the user experience. Often, cutting-edge technology may not be the optimal choice due to potential drawbacks in these products, such as impractical designs or redundant features. Early adopters not only bear the burden of higher costs but also assume risks associated with unproven quality. For instance, my brother, an avid fan of the Assassin's Creed series, eagerly purchased a newly released game at a premium price only to discover numerous bugs within it. Hence, I contend that embracing early adoption may not always be a wise decision. (115 words)

Academic Discussion
