One social phenomenon we discussed recently is this: when a person is in some trouble, some people help that person, while many others do nothing. Some people conclude that inaction-that is, doing nothing-makes the world a worse place. In your post, please discuss the causes or the effects ofthis social phenomenon:in other words, what are some reasons why people might choose not to help others or what are some results ofthisinaction?
Student A
In my opinion, one of the main causes behind this phenomenon of people not helping others is concern for one's own interests.IfI come across someone in a situation who needs help,I will want to help that person-but not if it creates some significant problem for me. Doing so will simply put us both in a bad situation
Student B
I agree that inaction makes the world worse. That means that we all have the responsibility to make the world a better place. An important effect of people not taking on this responsibility is that we may feelless trusting of our neighbors. Conversely.when others show that they are willing to help people, our community becomes stronger.

In my opinion, one of the reasons why people might choose not to help others is that they are not likely to communicate with each other than before. Andrew has made a good point that people concern for their own interests more. I would like to add that people focus more on other issues other than helping others to solve their problems. To be specific, we live in a society which has a much faster pace of working and living than in the past. People who live in metropolitan cities have much work to do everyday. Most employees who work in big companies do not have much time to communicate or chat with others, and the only group of people they meet daily is their colleagues. As a result, they have to spend most of their time dealing with their jobs instead of helping others since they do not have enough time to get to know each other and can even barely finish their own work. In this case, lack of communication leads to their unwillingness in helping others.

"In addition to the lack of communication, another reason for people's unwillingness to help others is the fear of legal consequences. For example, some people might be afraid that if they try to help someone in an accident, they could be held responsible for any further injuries or damages."
-
"One effect of this inaction is that it can lead to a decrease in social trust and cohesion, as people may feel less connected and supported by their community when they see others not stepping up to help those in need."

-
"Firstly, one of the reasons why people might choose not to help others is the lack of communication in today's fast-paced society. This can be attributed to the fact that people are more focused on their own work and have less time to interact with others."
-
"Moreover, another factor contributing to this social phenomenon is the fear of legal consequences or personal safety concerns, which may prevent people from offering assistance in certain situations."

Section Title: 6 文章修订
Revised Essay: In my opinion, one contributing factor to the social phenomenon of people choosing not to help others is the decline in interpersonal communication. Andrew rightly pointed out that individuals prioritize their own interests; however, I would like to expand on this by highlighting how people are increasingly preoccupied with matters other than assisting others. Specifically, we live in a fast-paced society where work and personal commitments consume much of our time. This is particularly true for those residing in metropolitan areas who are often overwhelmed by their professional responsibilities. Consequently, they have limited opportunities to interact with others outside their immediate circle of colleagues. This lack of communication fosters a sense of detachment and results in an unwillingness to help others due to insufficient time and a lack of familiarity with those in need. Thus, it can be argued that diminished interpersonal connections contribute significantly to the prevalence of inaction within our communities. (159 words)
