Panoramica del Task

Testo di Lettura

Environment Scenting Our powerful sense of smell allows us to tell the difference between many kinds of odors. These odors are interpreted and processed in a part of the brain that affects our emotions, behavior, and memory. Given this knowledge, market researchers are studying the effects of what is known as environment scenting. This technique attempts to use pleasant fragrances to increase customer sales. The results of these marketing studies indicate that smells can strongly influence consumers both in their willingness to buy a product and in the value they place on a product.

Original Answer: MBC 뉴스 이덕영입니다.

Corrected Answer: MBC 뉴스 이덕영입니다. Environment scenting is a technique that uses pleasant fragrances to influence consumers' purchasing behavior. (原文为韩文,与题目无关,已修改为英文并添加了与题目相关的内容。)

Revised Answer (140 words): Environment scenting is a technique that uses pleasant fragrances to influence consumers' purchasing behavior. One example from the lecture demonstrates how this technique works in a department store. Researchers placed a fragrance that appealed to women in the women's clothing department and a different fragrance that appealed to men in the men's clothing department. The result was a significant increase in sales, almost doubling on the days when these fragrances were used. This experiment shows that environment scenting can have a strong impact on consumers' willingness to buy products. By using scents that are specifically designed to appeal to certain demographics, businesses can create an atmosphere that encourages customers to make purchases and potentially increase their perceived value of the products, ultimately leading to higher sales and customer satisfaction.

3.Delivery The speaker's delivery could be improved. There are some pauses and hesitations throughout the response, which can make it difficult to follow. Additionally, there are a few pronunciation errors, such as "sanding" instead of "scenting" and "woman closing" instead of "women's clothing." To improve, the speaker should practice speaking more fluidly and work on their pronunciation of certain words.

4.Topic Development The topic development is generally good, as the speaker provides two clear examples from the lecture to explain environment scenting and its influence on consumers. However, there is some confusion in the wording of the first example, which could be clarified for better understanding. To improve, the speaker should focus on organizing their ideas more coherently and ensuring that their examples are clearly explained.

The speaker's delivery is mostly clear and fluid, with a consistent pace and only occasional pauses. However, there are some minor issues with word choice and sentence structure that could be improved. For example, the phrase "environment assenting" should be "environment scenting." Additionally, the speaker could work on using more varied sentence structures to make the response more engaging. To improve delivery, the speaker should practice speaking more naturally and focus on correct pronunciation and word choice.

4.Topic Development The speaker provides a coherent and well-organized response, with clear connections between ideas and sufficient support or examples from the lecture. However, there is room for improvement in terms of elaborating on the examples and providing more context for the experiments mentioned. For instance, the speaker could explain why the fragrances used in the experiments were proven to appeal to men and women or discuss how these findings might be applied in real-world marketing situations. To improve topic development, the speaker should focus on providing more detailed explanations and context for their examples.

5.Language Use

Environment assenting scenting (corrected for accurate vocabulary) is a technique that attempts to use pleasant fragrances to increase customer sales. In the listening, the professor uses two experiments to illustrate this idea. First, the researcher just simply (more formal word choice) put the fragrances that appealed to women into the air of the women's clothing department store, and (improved sentence structure) the men's into the men's store. It is surprising that the sales doubled. Another experiment is to assign two identical pair pairs (corrected for plural form) of running shoes into two rooms, one with a pleasant fragrance and another without. Then, the researchers askd (consistent tense usage) the customers to fill out a questionnaire about their preferences for the shoes. They all find out, discovering (improved sentence structure and word choice) that customers prefer the shoes inside the room with fragrances and also think this pair of shoes is more expensive. Therefore, that's how the professor illustrates this idea.
