Panoramica dell'Esercizio

Professor

Nowadays we talk a lot about how to build relationships with others. And of course, we all want to find ways to establish meaningful and enriching bond with others. Before next class, I would like for you to discuss this question: Is being completely honest with friends helps to solidify the friendship? Or is it considered as being naive and not flexible?

Helen

Being brutally honest with friends is the secret to maintaining intimacy with our friends. When we are utterly frank with our friends, we are building mutual trust. I read that a relatively good number of relationships fall apart due to numerous lies, whereas pure sincerity with friends usually guarantees a solid friendship.

Student B

Pure honesty is not practical. We probably have encountered situations where we dislike something about our friends intensely. Invariably, we tell our friends how wonderful everything is, to avoid hurting their feelings. Or we compliment our friends for how well they look or express our appreciation for gifts, when we don’t really mean it. I think these harmless and well-intended white lies are necessary social lubricant.

Esempio Utente

Helen presents a compelling argument in favor of honesty within friendships. Admittedly, being honest with friends can foster trust. However, considering that individuals have their own perspectives, I am inclined to believe that pure honesty can have some negative effects. Since everyone perceives things differently, expressing our true thoughts and opinions to our friends may potentially lead to debates or even conflicts among us. For instance, when computer science students collaborate on a modeling project, they often engage in debates or criticize each other’s approaches because they strongly believe in their own methods. Therefore, while being honest with friends can strengthen trust, I firmly believe that it can also create conflicts among individuals.

Helen presents a persuasive argument in favor of honesty within friendships, asserting that it fosters trust. However, considering the diverse perspectives individuals possess, I contend that unmitigated honesty can occasionally yield negative consequences. Since people perceive situations differently, expressing our genuine thoughts and opinions to friends may inadvertently instigate debates or conflicts. For instance, when computer science students collaborate on a modeling project, they often engage in heated discussions or critique each other's approaches due to their unwavering belief in their own methods.

Although Helen's viewpoint has merit, I concur with Student B that employing white lies as a social lubricant can be beneficial. In certain circumstances, withholding complete honesty can prevent unnecessary disputes and maintain harmony within friendships. Striking an appropriate balance between candor and diplomacy is crucial for nurturing strong relationships.

In summary, while honesty is undeniably important in building trust among friends, it is essential to recognize the potential drawbacks of being entirely forthright. By adopting a balanced approach that considers both the positive and negative aspects of honesty, we can cultivate more resilient and harmonious friendships. (181 words)

6.文章修订

Eric presents a compelling argument in favor of the benefits celebrities bring to young people. Admittedly, celebrities who have faced struggles and overcome them can provide valuable coping strategies for youth. On the other hand, considering that young individuals may lack the ability to discern between positive and negative influences, I am inclined to believe that celebrities can have detrimental effects on them.

In my view, celebrities may unintentionally promote negative habits among young people. With the widespread use of the internet, some famous individuals' unhealthy habits, such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, can be easily exposed to impressionable minds. For instance, when I was in school at the age of 10, many of my peers idolized celebrities who smoked, which in turn influenced them to try smoking themselves.

While it is true that celebrities can offer valuable insights into overcoming personal challenges and raising awareness about mental health issues, it is essential to recognize their potential negative impact on young individuals' behavior. Consequently, parents and educators should guide children in understanding and evaluating celebrity influences critically to help them make informed decisions about their role models. (189 words)

Title: 6 文章修订

In my opinion, honesty is the most crucial factor in maintaining a strong friendship, as lies can potentially damage the bond between friends. To clarify, being truthful with friends is essential because although they may initially trust you despite the lies, the truth will eventually come to light. When this happens, their trust in you may be shattered, leading to a deterioration of the relationship.

Furthermore, if there are certain topics or information that you prefer not to share with your friends, it is better to be upfront about your desire for privacy rather than resorting to dishonesty. By doing so, you can maintain your personal boundaries while still preserving the integrity of the friendship. A true friend will respect your wishes and not pry into your private matters.

In conclusion, while there may be instances where small white lies are used as social lubricants to avoid hurting someone's feelings, it is generally more beneficial for friendships to be built on a foundation of honesty and trust. This approach fosters open communication and mutual understanding, ultimately strengthening the bond between friends. (184 words)

In my opinion, a balanced approach to grading students is essential, taking into consideration both performance and effort. While it is crucial to acknowledge the importance of accurate and well-presented work, it is equally important to recognize the dedication and hard work that a student puts into their assignments. By doing so, we encourage not only academic excellence but also the development of strong work ethics and perseverance.

Moreover, solely focusing on performance may demotivate students who struggle academically despite their best efforts. Recognizing their hard work can boost their confidence and motivate them to continue striving for improvement. Additionally, life beyond academia values not just knowledge but also determination and resilience; thus, incorporating effort into grading systems can better prepare students for future challenges in higher education or professional settings. Wendy and Jacobs offered valuable insights into the factors contributing to long-term friendships, emphasizing common interests and reciprocal commitment. While these are undeniably important, I believe that honesty should be regarded as the paramount quality in maintaining a lasting friendship. Honesty serves as the fundamental cornerstone of any relationship, as deception can be incredibly damaging. For instance, I once fabricated an excuse to avoid attending my friend's party in order to spend time with my boyfriend. When my friend uncovered my lie, it caused her significant distress and strained our relationship. Such instances of dishonesty often result in a breach of trust, leading to friendship deterioration. Furthermore, one lie often leads to the necessity of telling more lies to cover it up, creating a vicious cycle of deceit. Therefore, fostering pure sincerity with friends is imperative for building and preserving solid, enduring friendships. In a world fraught with deceit, an honest friend becomes a cherished rarity, reinforcing the significance of honesty in friendships.

Wendy and Jacobs provided insightful perspectives on the factors that contribute to long-term friendships, highlighting common interests and reciprocal commitment. While these aspects are undeniably crucial, I contend that honesty should be considered the most critical quality in sustaining lasting friendships. Honesty serves as the bedrock of any relationship, as deception can be immensely detrimental.

A crucial factor in fostering enduring friendships is the presence of tolerance. In any relationship, conflicts are inevitable, and as the bond between friends strengthens over time, they become more aware of each other's flaws that may not have been apparent initially. In such situations, exercising tolerance and offering constructive solutions to overcome these shortcomings is essential for maintaining the friendship. It is unrealistic to expect all friends to be perfect; everyone has their own weaknesses. For example, I once discovered that my best friend had a habit of littering indiscriminately. Instead of allowing disappointment to affect our relationship, I reminded myself of her numerous positive qualities and gently suggested that she dispose of her trash in designated bins. In my opinion, I agree with Zoe's idea that schools should take responsibilities that children become overweight nowadays since children have 3 meals at school. In my country, although schools do not provide children with high-callory food such as McDonald's, the food children eat at school are not healthy at all. School do not have nutrition experts who is well-known for their skills to arrange and provide healthy and proper meals for children. Instead, schools cooperate with social companies who only care about how much money and profit they can get from it. As a result, they use budget as less as possible to avoid too much waste thus the food provided for school children is not so good as we commonly imagined.

School do not have nutrition experts who isare(Detects potentially wrong usage of "is") well-known for their skills to arrange and provide healthy and proper meals for children. Instead, schools cooperate with social companies who only care about how much money and profit they can get from it. As a result, they use budget as less as possible to avoid too much wastewaste,(This rule identifies whether commas are missing in a sentence.) thus the food provided for school children is not so good as we commonly imagined.

In my opinion, I concur with Zoe's perspective that schools should assume responsibility for the increasing prevalence of childhood obesity, as children consume three meals a day within the school environment. In my country, although schools do not serve high-calorie fast food like McDonald's, the meals provided to students are far from nutritious. Educational institutions often lack nutrition experts adept at designing and offering well-balanced meals tailored to children's needs. Instead, they collaborate with profit-driven companies that prioritize their financial gains over students' well-being. Consequently, these companies minimize expenses and provide subpar food options for schoolchildren, contributing to the widespread issue of childhood obesity. (108 words)
