This week we covered different parenting styles. One idea we discussed was how much independence and freedom we should give our children, especially young children. One related issue is whether there should be an age limit on when children can have mobile phones. In this discussion post, I would like you to discuss whether you agree or disagree with the idea of setting a minimum age for when children can have a mobile phone. Explain your opinion.
Andrew
I totally agree with the idea of not giving children phones before they reach a certain age, let's say ten years or so. I believe children younger than ten are not yet ready to deal with the world that comes with mobile phones, as it can put them in harm's way.
Claire
Honestly, I am against the idea of restricting mobile phone access for young children. I believe mobile phones can help children communicate with their parents if they need their help for an urgent matter when they are away from their parents at school or elsewhere. Maybe companies can invent a special kind of mobile phone that is somehow kid friendly.

In my opinion, setting a minimum age for when children can have a mobile phone is necessary, since children are easily addict to the games and videos. To elaborate, the children younger than ten who does not have enough knowledge to control themselves. With a smart phone, they will spend a lot of time on game and videos. Their time is valuable, as childhood is the most crucial period during a person’s life. A lot of time should be spent on individuals’ development which can help them have a better life in the future. For example, children can spend their time to play with friends or read some books instead of using smart phone. Nevertheless, some might argue that children can use mobile phone to communicate with their parents. However, they do not mention that they can borrow teacher’s mobile phone. Besides, the little children spend their most time on campus, there is no need for them to contact with their parents.

你的文章在回应任务要求方面做得很好,但还有一些可以改进的地方。首先,在语法和词汇使用方面,有一些小错误,例如“children are easily addict to the games and videos”应该是“children can easily become addicted to games and videos”。此外,尽管你提供了一些论据支持你的观点,但它们可以更具体和详细。例如,在讨论孩子们如何利 用他们的时间时,可以提供更多关于这对他们发展的影响的信息。
改进建议示例1(英文): Instead of saying "children can spend their time to play with friends or read some books instead of using smart phone," you could say "by engaging in activities such as playing with friends or reading books, children can develop essential social skills and cognitive abilities that excessive smartphone use might hinder."
改进建议示例2(英文): Instead of saying "they do not mention that they can borrow teacher’s mobile phone," you could say "in case of emergencies, children can always ask their teachers or other responsible adults for help, making it unnecessary for them to have their own mobile phones at a young age."
改进建议示例1(英文): Instead of starting your essay with "In my opinion," you could say "I firmly believe that setting a minimum age for children to have mobile phones is essential, as it helps prevent addiction to games and videos and encourages healthier development."
改进建议示例2(英文): To improve transitions between ideas, you could use phrases like "furthermore," "in addition," or "on the other hand." For example, you could say "Furthermore, children can develop essential social skills by engaging in activities such as playing with friends or reading books, which excessive smartphone use might hinder."

Section Title: The Impact of Mobile Phones on Young Children
In my opinion, establishing a minimum age for children to possess mobile phones is essential, as they can easily become addicted to games and videos. Specifically, children under ten years old often lack the self-control necessary to manage their screen time effectively. Smartphones can lead to excessive time spent on games and videos, which could be better utilized for personal development during this critical period in their lives. For instance, children could engage in outdoor activities with friends or read books instead of being consumed by smartphone usage.
While some may argue that mobile phones facilitate communication between children and their parents, it is important to consider alternative options available within the school environment. Young children can borrow a teacher's phone if necessary, and since they spend most of their time on campus, constant contact with parents may not be required. (151 words)
