Music Coming to Cafeterias  Mary Dixon, Director of the Student Life Committee, announced yesterday that beginning next semester university cafeterias will broadcast classical music during mealtimes. “Music will foster a more relaxed atmosphere.” said Dixon, "Students' lives are hectic, and mealtimes provide important opportunities to take a break and catch up with friends before moving on to the next class or assignment." Added Dixon. "We're also hoping that, if we provide the music, students will unplug their personal music devices—their Walkmans and mp3 players or whatever—and will spend more time talking to each other. When students have their headphones on. they're not connecting with each other."

3.Delivery The speaker's delivery is generally clear and fluid, but there are some occasional pauses that could be improved. Additionally, some words are spelled incorrectly, which may be a result of inaccurate pronunciation. To improve, the speaker should practice speaking at a consistent pace and work on pronouncing words correctly.

4.Topic Development The response is coherent and well-organized, with clear connections between ideas. However, the speaker could provide more specific examples or details to support their points. To improve topic development, the speaker should focus on elaborating on their reasons and providing more concrete evidence to strengthen their argument.

5.Language Use

The university is planning to play classic music loudly in the speaker at cafeteria university plans to play classical music through speakers in the cafeteria (corrected for grammar and word choice). However, the men man (corrected for singular form) in the conversation think this is a bad idea because not every student need a relaxed atmosphere. Some of them need to study in cafeteria maybe a week before exam or before their deadline of the assignment. So that may be extremely distracting for those students who want to study in the cafeteria. Also, this may not help students unplug their musical devices because not everyone like classic music and they won't listen to that in their daily life. So in this way, it won't stop them to bring their own musical devices to the cafeteria. But more students would like to bring their own musical devices because of the classic music they don't want to listen. So they need to play their own music to cover the classic music twice. In this way, this idea is totally ridiculous.

Revised Answer (140 words):

The university plans to play classical music through speakers in the cafeteria. However, the man in the conversation believes this is a poor idea because not all students require a relaxing atmosphere during mealtimes. Some students need to study while eating, especially when facing upcoming exams or assignment deadlines. This plan could be highly distracting for those who wish to focus on their studies. Additionally, playing classical music may not encourage students to unplug their personal music devices, as not everyone enjoys this genre. Consequently, it might lead more students to bring their own devices and play their preferred music to drown out the classical tunes. In this way, the man argues that the university's plan is counterproductive and ill-conceived.

Original Answer: According to the announcement, the school has decided to provide music in cafeterias. This is because if music provided in cafeterias, the students will pluck music and devices and more likely to spend more time talking with each other. The main opposite is Chang's argument that the school decision is incorrect. To begin with, he points out that the music cannot make the students more relaxed because students are already studying for a long time and moreover, he argues that many students don't like classical music and it only makes students more likely to play their own music.

Corrected Answer: Based on the announcement, the university plans to play classical music in cafeterias. The purpose of this is to encourage students to unplug their personal devices and engage in conversation with one another. However, the man disagrees with this plan for two main reasons. Firstly, he believes that playing music will not help students relax since they often study during lunchtime. Secondly, he contends that many students do not enjoy classical music, which may lead them to use their devices even more to listen to their preferred tunes. The speaker's delivery is generally clear and fluid, with a consistent pace and only occasional pauses. However, there are some minor issues with punctuation and pronunciation that could be improved. For example, the speaker should work on enunciating words more clearly and using appropriate pauses to separate ideas. Practicing speaking aloud and focusing on pronunciation can help improve these areas.

4.Topic Development The response is coherent and well-organized, with clear connections between ideas and sufficient support or examples. However, there is room for improvement in terms of providing more specific details from the listening passage to strengthen the argument. Additionally, the speaker should avoid repeating phrases like "classical music" too often and instead use synonyms or pronouns to create more variety in their language. To improve topic development, the speaker can practice summarizing key points from listening passages and incorporating them into their response more effectively.

The speaker's delivery could be improved by focusing on clarity and fluidity in speech. The pace was inconsistent, and there were occasional pauses that disrupted the flow of the response. To improve, the speaker should practice speaking at a consistent pace and work on reducing unnecessary pauses. Additionally, pronunciation should be more accurate to avoid spelling errors.

4.Topic Development The topic development in the response could be better. While the speaker did mention the man's opinion and provided reasons for his disagreement with the university's plan, the connections between ideas were not always clear, and some points were repetitive. To improve, the speaker should work on organizing their response more coherently and providing sufficient support or examples for each point made. This will help create a more well-structured and persuasive argument.

Therefore, listening to classical music during this time will not help them concentrate, as not everyone can study effectively with background music. Secondly, not everyone enjoys classical music. As a result, students may continue to bring their personal music devices to block out the cafeteria's classical music. According to the passage, university plans to broadcast the classical classical music as a break. He thinks it will foster a more relaxed atmosphere and it may make the students take a better break. Secondly, the university thinks it will help the students unplug personal devices like MP3 and they will talk to each other and increase the students' connecting. But the man doesn't like the idea. Because firstly, he thinks some students want to study especially preparing for their final exam and they can't concentrate and the music will distract the students' attention. Secondly, some students don't like classical music and the classical music will make the students more likely to bring their own devices. So the man doesn't like the idea.

(Use "classical" instead of "the classical" for consistency in referring to the genre of music.)

Revised Answer (140 words):

According to the passage, the university plans to broadcast classical music during mealtimes as a way to create a more relaxed atmosphere and encourage students to take better breaks. The university also believes that this initiative will help students unplug from their personal devices, such as MP3 players, and engage in more face-to-face conversations with their peers. However, the man disagrees with this plan for two main reasons. First, he argues that many students prefer to study while eating, especially when they are preparing for exams or working on assignments, and playing classical music in cafeterias could be distracting for them. Second, he points out that not all students enjoy listening to classical music, which might lead them to use their personal devices even more in order to block out the unwanted background noise.
