Đoạn Văn Đọc Hiểu

Exaptation The physical features of an animal's body usually serve a specific purpose-they function to increase the animal's chances of survival. But over time in response to a particular challenge in its environment an animal species will sometimes use one of its existing features for a new purpose. This is known as exaptation. By finding another use for one of its physical features exaptation allows animals to respond to additional challenges in their environment. The animal may continue to use the physical feature for its older purpose while also using it for the new purpose.

Câu Hỏi

23. 3.Delivery

The speaker's delivery is generally clear and fluid, with a consistent pace and only occasional pauses. However, there are some pronunciation issues that need to be addressed, such as "exception" instead of "exaptation" and "Aran" instead of "heron." To improve, the speaker should practice pronouncing these words correctly and work on enunciating more clearly.

4.Topic Development The response is coherent and well-organized, with clear connections between ideas and sufficient support or examples from both the reading passage and the lecture. The speaker successfully explains how the heron's use of its wings to block sunlight illustrates exaptation. However, there is room for improvement in providing more accurate details from the lecture, such as specifying that the heron lives near rivers and marshes in Africa. Additionally, the speaker could work on using more varied vocabulary to avoid repetition and enhance their explanation.

5.Language Use

The reading passage introduces a topic exception exaptation(corrected for accurate terminology) that describes an existing physical feature of an animal body to use for a new purpose and that is basically to increase their survival and they can use it for the older purpose as well as the newer purpose as well. And the professor dives deeper into the subject and where he mentioned about an example of a rung wading(corrected for accurate description) bird which is basically a bird to hunt fishes but because of the sunlight reflecting on the surface of the ocean it's become harder for the bird to catch the fishes but over time the Aran heron(corrected for accurate pronunciation) developed this feature of their wings they basically hide the sun because of their wings and then it just eliminates the glare from the sunshine and they can easily see the fishes.

Revised Answer (140 words):

The reading passage introduces exaptation, a concept describing how animals use an existing physical feature for a new purpose to increase their chances of survival. They can use this feature for both its original and new purposes. The professor elaborates on this concept by providing an example of a wading bird, specifically a heron, which hunts fish in rivers and marshes. Due to sunlight reflecting on the water's surface, it becomes difficult for the heron to spot fish. However, over time, the heron has adapted by using its wings to block sunlight, creating shade that eliminates glare from the water's surface. This allows the heron to see fish more easily, demonstrating exaptation as it continues to use its wings for both flying and shading purposes.

Original Answer: Acceptation is that an animal uses its existing features for new purposes. Take the halloweens herons (词汇错误,应为herons而非halloweens) as an example. Halloweens are fed on the fishes in shallow water, and it is hard for them to see fishes while the sun is gone. As a solution, they use wings not only to fly but also block the sun by putting them above their heads and use the wings as well as the body to create a shelter over the water so that they can see the fish on the surface of the water clearly and catch the fish to feed themselves. Thank you for watching!

Revised Answer (140 words): Exaptation refers to animals using their existing features for new purposes. Take herons as an example. Herons feed on fish in shallow waters, and it can be difficult for them to see fish when sunlight creates glare on the water's surface. To overcome this challenge, herons use their wings not only for flying but also for blocking sunlight by holding them above their heads. This creates a shaded area over the water, allowing herons to see fish more clearly and catch them more easily. In this way, herons have adapted their wings for a new purpose, demonstrating exaptation in action. Thank you for listening!

在修改后的回答中,我们纠正了词汇错误,将“halloweens”改为正确的“herons”。同时,我们对句子结构进行了调整,使其更加自然流畅。此外,我们还添加了一些高级词汇,如“glare”和“overcome”,以提高回答的质量。通过这些修改,我们希望能够帮助学生提高口语回答的语言使用水平,从而获得更高的分数。

Exemptation Exaptation(应为 Exaptation,而非 Exemptation) is a technique used by some animals that you they(用 they 替换 you,因为这里指的是动物) can use one of their existing physical features for another purpose to respond to the additional challenges when it's necessary. In the lecture, the professor used the type of hiron heron(应为 heron,而非 hiron) as an example. Such hiron heron will always walk in the shallow sea and will eat the fishes at their daytime. It is always hard to see those fishes because the sunlight will always glaring glare(应使用动词形式 glare,而非名词形式 glaring) and no reflection. So they find out a cool solution which is using their wings. At past, they will use their wings to fly as most of the birds. However, they will always use the wings as an umbrella to block the sunlight and create a shade to find the fish. More specifically, the hiron heron will use their wings to block the sunlight and will eliminate the sun so they can see the fish better in the sea.

Revised Answer (140 words):

Exaptation is a technique used by some animals, allowing them to use one of their existing physical features for a new purpose in response to additional challenges. In the lecture, the professor discussed the example of a heron. This heron walks in shallow water and feeds on fish during the day. However, it is difficult to see the fish due to sunlight glare and lack of reflection. The heron has found a solution by using its wings. In the past, the heron used its wings primarily for flying, like most birds. Now, it also uses its wings as an umbrella to block sunlight and create shade, making it easier to spot fish. By holding its wings above its head, the heron effectively eliminates glare and can better see fish in the water, demonstrating a clear example of exaptation.

原文:Exhaptations Exaptations(应为 Exaptations,而非 Exhaptations) is when animals use existing physical features for new purposes. The professor illustrated this with the example of harem heron(应为 heron,而非 harem) birds who live around African rivers. They often walk around the shallow waters and find fish in it to eat. But the problem with that is that it's difficult for them to see the fish with the reflections of sunlight, and they found a solution that involves the use of wings. So the birds first use wings to fly, but in this circumstance, they also use their wings to block the sun to create a shade. So they put their wings over their head and hold it there and look down, which the wing will help them to block the sun and all those illuminate reflex illuminated reflections(应为 illuminated reflections,而非 illuminate reflex),which will help them to see the fish clearly and catch them for food.

修订版(140词):

Exaptations occur when animals utilize their existing physical features for new purposes. The professor illustrated this concept using the example of heron birds living near African rivers. These birds often wade through shallow waters in search of fish to eat. However, they face difficulty seeing fish due to sunlight reflections on the water's surface. To overcome this challenge, herons have developed a solution involving their wings. Initially used for flying, herons now also employ their wings to block sunlight, creating shade. By holding their wings above their heads and looking down into the water, herons effectively block sunlight and eliminate illuminated reflections, enabling them to see fish more clearly and catch them for food. This example demonstrates how herons have adapted their existing physical features to address new challenges in their environment, exemplifying the concept of exaptation.

Original: This example of the horn heron (原文中的“horn”应为“heron”,因为这里讨论的是鹭鸟,而非角) illustrates a competition exaptation (原文中的“competition”应为“exaptation”,因为这里讨论的是物种利用现有特征进行新功能适应的过程,而非竞争) because it involved the bear heron (原文中的“bear”应为“heron”,因为这里讨论的是鹭鸟,而非熊) using its existing physical features, its wings, for a new proposal purpose (原文中的“proposal”应为“purpose”,因为这里讨论的是物种利用现有特征进行新功能适应的目的,而非提议). Originally, the horn's heron's wings were used for flight, but over time, the horn heron started using its wings to block the sun and create shade when looking for fish in the water by holding its wings above its head. The horn heron for formed (原文中的“for”应为“formed”,因为这里讨论的是鹭鸟如何形成遮阳的动作,而非为了什么目的) a canopy that blocks the sun's glare, allowing it to see the fish more easily. So in this case, the horn heron ecopter adapted (原文中的“ecopter”应为“adapted”,因为这里讨论的是鹭鸟如何适应新环境,而非某种设备) its wings using them for both flying and creating shade, also adapting to the challenge of finding fish in the presence of sunlight. These demonstrate how animals can repurpose their existing features to respond to additional challenges in their environment.

Revised (140 words): This example of the heron illustrates exaptation because it involves the heron using its existing physical features, specifically its wings, for a new purpose. Originally, the heron's wings were used for flight; however, over time, the heron began utilizing its wings to block sunlight and create shade while searching for fish in the water. By holding its wings above its head, the heron forms a canopy that effectively blocks the sun's glare, enabling it to see the fish more easily. In this case, the heron adapted its wings for dual purposes: flying and creating shade, thereby addressing the challenge of locating fish in sunlit waters. This example demonstrates how animals can repurpose their existing features to respond to additional challenges in their environment, showcasing the concept of exaptation.

And the trouble they're facing is that the sunlight always reflecting on the water and avoid, make it unable for the bird to see the fish in the water. And their solution is to use their wings, which means that they can hold the wings above the head to block the sun and create shade so they can see the fish.

Revised Answer (140 words): In the lecture, we learn about exaptation, a phenomenon where animals adapt their existing physical features to address new challenges in their environment, thus increasing their chances of survival. The professor illustrates this concept with an example of a heron species native to Africa. These birds primarily feed on fish found in rivers and marshes. However, they face a challenge due to sunlight reflecting on water surfaces, making it difficult for them to spot fish. To overcome this issue, herons have adapted by using their wings not only for flying but also for creating shade. They hold their wings above their heads like a canopy or umbrella, blocking sunlight and reducing glare on water surfaces. This innovative adaptation allows herons to see fish more clearly and effectively hunt for food.

The reading discusses exaptation, explaining that animals sometimes utilize their existing features for new purposes. The professor elaborates on this concept by providing an example of a heron living near rivers and marshes in Africa. These birds need to search for fish in shallow waters; however, the sun's glare on the water can make it difficult for them to see the fish. To overcome this challenge, herons have adapted their wings not only for flying but also for blocking the sun to create shade, allowing them to see the fish more easily. By positioning their wings above their heads like an umbrella, herons can effectively block the sun's glare and improve their visibility underwater. This example demonstrates how the heron's wings have undergone exaptation, as they now serve a dual purpose: flying and providing shade for better visibility while hunting for fish.

5.语言使用

Original: There is a term named expectationexaptation(适应性转换,而非期望), which means that some animal will eatuse(使用,而非吃) one of the existing creatures for a new purpose. For example, there's a kind of bird which conserves fish as their food. When the sun is shining, they find that it's hard to see the fish because of their reflection of the surface. So, they found that they can use their wings to block the sun, which is what's supposed for their flying. Then, they can see the fish more clearly and better to catch them. So, in this example, we can see that the bird's wing is an expectationexaptation(适应性转换,而非期望) for their catching fish because the wings is used for flying and they use this to block the sun.

Revised (140 words): Exaptation refers to when an animal uses one of its existing features for a new purpose. For instance, there is a type of heron that feeds on fish in rivers and marshes. When sunlight creates glare on the water surface, it becomes difficult for the heron to see the fish. To overcome this challenge, the heron discovered that it could use its wings, originally meant for flying, to block sunlight by holding them above its head like a canopy. This adaptation allows the heron to see and catch fish more effectively. In this example, we can observe that the heron's wings serve as an exaptation for catching fish since they are primarily used for flying but have been repurposed to block sunlight.

Original: Acceptation Exaptation (The correct term is "exaptation" instead of "acceptation") is a biology concept which describes that animals use existing features for new purposes to adapt for new challenges in the environment. The biology professor elaborates this idea by showing an example of a bird called harem heron (The correct term is "heron" instead of "harem"). When a harem heron is a waiting bird, they always walk near the river and catch fish and eat them. However, the sun shines always reflects on the water, which makes the harem heron hard to see the fish. Therefore, harem heron evolves its wings. Wings are originally for flying, but harem heron use them to block the sun. Birds hold their wings up and create a shield on the river, so it eliminates glare from the water. This is an example of acceptation. exaptation.

Revised (140 words):

Exaptation is a biological concept that describes how animals adapt to new challenges in their environment by using existing features for new purposes. The biology professor illustrates this idea with an example of a bird called heron. Herons, as wading birds, often walk near rivers to catch and eat fish. However, the sun's reflection on the water makes it difficult for herons to see the fish. To overcome this challenge, herons have evolved to use their wings, originally meant for flying, to block the sun. By holding their wings up and creating a shield over the water, herons eliminate glare and improve their visibility of fish below the surface. This adaptation of using wings for a new purpose exemplifies exaptation in the animal kingdom.

The concept of exaptation refers to a phenomenon in which some species use their physical features for different functions. (Changed "stuffs" to "features" and rephrased the sentence for clarity) In the lecture, the professor showed us an example of a bird. This kind of bird usually eat fish in the sea, but it is hard to see the fish because of sunlight. The sunlight can be reflected and make the bird feel dizzy. So the bird's wings are originated to fly, but this time this bird will use their wings to block the sun and shadow the fish to eliminate the glares and the birds can see and catch the fish better and make it easier to catch the fish.

4.话题发展 从话题发展方面来看,回答内容基本上是连贯和有组织的,观点之间的联系也比较清晰。但在解释鹭鸟如何体现了exaptation这个概念时,可以再加强一些细节描述和例子。例如,在描述鹭鸟如何利用翅膀遮阳时,可以提到这种行为是如何随着时间的推移逐渐演变出来的。这样可以使回答更加充实和有说服力。

5.语言使用

Original Answer: Acceptation is a behavior that allows animals to utilize its own physical feature for new purposes. The lecture clearly demonstrates this phenomenon by stating an example of a bird in Africa called a heron. The heron lives in shallow water near marshes and feeds on fishes. The sunlight reflected on the surface of water often distracts them from capturing fishes underwater. They develop their wings, which are used to fly before, to block sunlight to make a shade by holding them above the surface of the water. By using wings for new purposes, their sight of the fish becomes much better.

Corrected Answer: Acceptation Exaptation(接受改为适应,因为这是原文中的正确词汇) is a behavior that allows animals to utilize its their(将its改为their,因为前面提到的是复数的动物) own physical feature for new purposes. The lecture clearly demonstrates this phenomenon by stating an example of a bird in Africa called a heron. The heron lives in shallow water near marshes and feeds on fishes fish(将fishes改为fish,因为fish已经表示复数). The sunlight reflected on the surface of water often distracts them from capturing fish underwater. They develop adapt(将develop改为adapt,更符合上下文语境) their wings, which are used to fly before, to block sunlight to make a shade by holding them above the surface of the water. By using wings for new purposes, their sight of the fish becomes much better.

Revised Answer (140 words): Exaptation is a process that allows animals to adapt their existing physical features for new purposes, enhancing their chances of survival. The lecture provides a clear example of this phenomenon through the African heron. This bird inhabits shallow waters near marshes and primarily feeds on fish. However, the sunlight reflecting off the water's surface often hinders their ability to spot fish underwater. To overcome this challenge, herons have adapted their wings, which were initially used for flying, to block sunlight and create shade by holding them above the water's surface. This innovative use of their wings allows herons to significantly improve their underwater visibility and successfully capture fish, demonstrating the concept of exaptation in action.

3.表达 在回答中,发音大部分清晰,但有些地方需要改进。建议在练习发音时,注意语速和停顿的恰当性。同时,注意一些单词的拼写错误,这可能是由于发音不准确导致的。多加练习,提高发音准确度。

4.话题发展 The response is coherent and well-organized, but there are some areas that could be improved. First, the term "exhabilitation" should be corrected to "exaptation." Additionally, it would be helpful to provide a clearer explanation of how the heron's use of its wings for shading is an example of exaptation, by emphasizing that the wings were originally used for flying and have now been adapted for a new purpose. Lastly, try to avoid repetition and use more varied sentence structures to make the response more engaging.

5.语言使用

Original: Exhabilitation Exaptation (拼写错误,应为"Exaptation") in the rating (这里的"rating"不符合语境,建议删除) means to respond to certain challenge in environment by using existing features for new purpose. So in the lecture, the professor used a bird called heron as an example to illustrate this concept. This bird lives in shallow water and mainly feed on fish. The problem is that it's hard for the heron to see the fish they feed on because of the strong reflection of light caused by the sun. So the solution is to use its wing to block the sun to form the shade. By putting wings over its head and then look at the water at the same time, it can form a shade to avoid the glare in the water. As a result, they can see the fish better and improve their successful rate to catch its prey.

Revised (140 words): Exaptation refers to an animal's ability to adapt existing features for new purposes in response to environmental challenges. In the lecture, the professor used a heron as an example to illustrate this concept. This bird inhabits shallow waters and primarily feeds on fish. However, it is difficult for herons to see fish due to strong sunlight reflections on the water's surface. To overcome this issue, herons use their wings, originally meant for flying, to block sunlight and create shade. By holding their wings above their heads while looking into the water, herons can effectively reduce glare and improve visibility. Consequently, this adaptation allows them to better locate fish and increase their success rate in catching prey.

原文:Exaptotation Exaptation(异化) is the new use of the existing feature in a new purpose and this could help the animal to respond to additional challenges that they might face in their environment. The professor provides an example of the type of Huron heron(鹭鸟) , which is a kind of the bird. It's a wading bird, so it spend most of the time walking around the shallow water and try to eat the fish. However, the sun shining on the water make it pretty hard to see the fish through the water for that wading bird. However, through this long time past, Huron heron(鹭鸟) has another usage for its wings. Like most birds, Huron heron(鹭鸟) uses wing for flying, but what also happened is that at some point, Huron heron(鹭鸟) started to use the wing to block the sun and create the shade when it's looking for the fish. It does by putting its wing above the head and hold him there. Then, it will look down to the water, which help him to face all the challenges and that is exaptotation.

(在这段回答中,主要的问题是单词的拼写错误,例如“Exaptotation”应该是“Exaptation”,“Huron”应该是“heron”。这些错误可能是由于发音不准确导致的。另外,还有一些语法问题,例如动词的单复数形式不正确。)

修订版(140字):

Exaptation is the process of using an existing feature for a new purpose, which helps animals adapt to additional challenges in their environment. The professor gives an example of a heron, a wading bird that spends most of its time in shallow water, hunting for fish. However, sunlight on the water makes it difficult for the heron to see the fish. Over time, the heron has developed a new use for its wings: blocking sunlight and creating shade while searching for fish. By holding its wings above its head, the heron forms a canopy that eliminates glare on the water, allowing it to see fish more effectively. This example demonstrates exaptation as the heron uses its wings for both flying and shading purposes.
