Resumen de la Tarea

Texto de Lectura

Allow Laptops in Class Though most of us own laptop computers, we are currently not allowed to use them during class. I think this policy should be changed. Since most of us type faster than we write by hand, taking notes on a computer would be quicker and easier, so we could pay more attention to professors' lectures. Also, since laptop computers have Internet access, professors could direct students to view Web sites with useful information while lectures are going on. They could look up useful facts and background information on a topic or view different photographs or illustrations of something the professor is describing. This would help students gain a more complete understanding of lecture topics. Sincerely, Jodie Smith

Original Answer: According to the rating material, In the reading passage, students should be allowed to use their laptops during the classes. This is because students often type faster when using laptops. Moreover, using laptops during the classes also enables students to get access to the Internet, which improves their learning efficiency. According to the conversation, however, the man does not like this idea. First off, allowing students to use their laptops during the classes means less students will pay attention to what the professors are talking about. Although some students will use their laptops as effective learning tools to improve their learning efficiency, other students will use their laptops to deal with something that is irrelevant to their lectures, such as surfing the Internet and playing computer games. Moreover, the man also mentions that not all students have laptops, so laptops can be only used by teachers as a teaching tool. Based on the two reasons, the man refutes both of the ideas presented in the reading passage.

Revised Answer (140 words):

In the reading passage, it is argued that students should be allowed to use laptops in class due to faster typing and internet access for better learning efficiency. However, in the conversation, the man disagrees with this proposal for two main reasons. Firstly, he believes that allowing laptop usage in class would lead to more distractions and less attention paid by students towards lectures since many would engage in unrelated activities like browsing or gaming. Secondly, he points out that not all students possess a laptop; thus, it would not be an effective teaching tool if only a portion of students could benefit from it. Consequently, based on these reasons, the man refutes both arguments presented in the reading passage and opposes allowing laptop usage in class.
