Professor
We've been discussing the importance of hiring and retaining highly skilled employees, but even the best employees may need to periodically update or further develop their work skills. One question facing managers is how much time and money to invest in improving the work skills of their employees. Some managers argue that ongoing employee training is the most important investment a company can make. What are your thoughts on the matter?
Student A
I don't think that employee training is the most important investment a company can make. The company should be hiring the most skilled workers it can find in the first place. There are so many other unavoidable things that a company needs to spend money on that have to take precedence over training.
Student B
Employees' leaving their jobs is always a risk, but providing ongoing training and skill development is more likely to make employees want to stay rather than go, in my opinion. When employers pay for training, employees are likely to feel more valued by their employer, and this can only improve the employer-employee relationship

6.文章修订
In response to the professor's question, I believe that companies should invest in consistent job training programs for their employees, as it offers several benefits. The job market is becoming increasingly competitive as employees obtain higher levels of education, ranging from bachelor's degrees to PhDs. People often prioritize job security once they secure a position, which can lead to a phenomenon called "involution," where employees exert excessive effort to outperform their peers.
To counteract this issue, companies should implement regular job training programs. Firstly, these programs can help reduce stress and fatigue caused by involution. By focusing on skill development rather than competition, employees can shift their priorities and maintain a healthier work-life balance. Secondly, consistent job training ensures that all employees adhere to the same high-quality standards and practices within the company.
Investing in regular job training programs not only helps employees maintain a high level of performance but also improves their job satisfaction and loyalty to the company. When employers provide opportunities for growth and development, employees are more likely to feel valued and remain committed to their organization. (182 words)
