Our current unit looks at tourism and the benefit it has on a country’s economy. Many argue that while tourism can indeed be a money-making endeavor, it can do more harm than good, especially tourism to small, remote places that are not heavily populated. What is your opinion? Should local or national governments promote tourism to remote regions not typically visited by tourists before? Why?
Student A
Tourism has always been a lucrative business. Improving the economies of these rural regions, especially if those regions are poor, can only have a positive effect. People can have a better quality of life by showcasing their food and traditions to the outside world. It’s a chance the people might not get without promotion from the government.
Student B
I don’t think governments should promote tourism to remote regions. The people are likely not asking for this kind of industry or for this kind of attention. Instead, governments should develop other means of improving a region’s economic situation, like expanding agriculture or other industries. These efforts will have a stronger, more permanent impact on the region than bringing in groups of tourists.

To be more specific, with the low equipment and primitive environment in rural region, government need to spend expensive investment to build a wide range of gears to attract people. For example, government need to spend earnings to hire worker to build the road, restaurant and facility which may cost a huge tax income, and this money can be used to build a lot of houses which can provide a secure place for poor people who can not pay it by their own. Conversely, the objector will say that tourism is a well-paid industry and can make more money to balance the cost of building it. However, there are a large quantity cases that can not efficiently attract people. And if the economy is falling down like recently, people will not have enough money to entertain and play, so investing the agriculture, suitable and native industry in the remote area, is a steady and safe impediment to promote the well-being.

In the context of economic development, tourism has often been regarded as a profitable endeavor. However, I strongly believe that promoting tourism in remote and sparsely populated regions is not an effective approach for governments to take, as resources could be allocated more efficiently elsewhere. Specifically, the lack of infrastructure and amenities in rural areas would require substantial investment from the government to create tourist attractions.
For instance, constructing roads, restaurants, and facilities to accommodate tourists would consume a significant portion of tax revenue. This expenditure could alternatively be directed towards building affordable housing for impoverished citizens who are unable to secure adequate shelter on their own.
Opponents may argue that tourism is a lucrative industry capable of generating sufficient income to offset the costs associated with its development. Nevertheless, numerous cases demonstrate that attracting tourists to remote locations can prove challenging. Furthermore, during periods of economic downturn – such as the present – people may not have disposable income for leisure activities. Consequently, investing in agriculture or other industries native to these remote areas would represent a more stable and secure strategy for promoting overall well-being and economic growth. Urban spaces are often subject to debate regarding their optimal use, particularly when it comes to prioritizing between essential facilities and green spaces. While some argue that the limited urban space should be allocated for indispensable structures such as hospitals and clinics, I maintain that incorporating more green spaces in cities is crucial for the overall well-being of the population.
The benefits of green spaces in urban areas are multifaceted, encompassing both physical and mental health improvements. Trees and plants contribute significantly to air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, while also purifying water sources. Consequently, a cleaner environment promotes healthier living conditions for city dwellers. Furthermore, green spaces offer opportunities for leisure activities such as socializing with friends, taking family walks, or hosting community events – all of which contribute positively to people's mental health.
While the argument for constructing more hospitals and clinics on available land may seem compelling at first glance, many cities already possess an abundance of such facilities. Instead of further saturating urban landscapes with commercial establishments like shopping malls and bars, it is imperative to prioritize the development of green spaces that foster a healthier lifestyle for residents. By striking a balance between essential infrastructure and natural environments within cities, we can create more sustainable and livable urban communities. (220 words)

While I can see Paul's idea that space satellites is an important discovery, I concur with Claire's perspective that medical discovery makes a big progress. As mentioned by Claire, the discoveries of vitamins definitely make people's body healthier. For example, the kids who can't see things clearly in the night, could just take a pill of vitamin A everyday to solve this problem. Apart from what Claire has raised, I add that the medical method of curing HIV is also an important discovery. In the past, HIV is a disease that people can do nothing but wait for die; however, with the technology developing rapidly, people can just use some medicines to control the HIV virus, which makes people who have this virus live longer. Therefore, the medical discovery, undoubtedly, is very important.

As the improvement of urban processes, the problem of air pollution caused by the releasing of carbon dioxide has been unprecedentedly come to fore. While some pople, such as Paul, argues that providing financial support to promote the electric-cars will be more beneficial, I wholeheartedly concur with Claire's assertion that improving public transportation will be a better solution. This primarily due to the increasing convenience of public transportation in both urban and rural areas, which make more and more people willing to cummute and travel by public transportation, such as subways and buses, instead of their own vehicles. By contrast, though the electric-car is more eco-friendly, there are no sufficient charger for consumers to recharge their cars, poses inconvenient. Consequently, promoting and improving public transportation will be more convenient for the majority.
