Dr. Diaz

This week we looked at how the cinema―the physical building where we watch films―has evolved over the years. Now, I want you to consider this question: with so many internet streaming services available for viewing films at home, do you think cinemas will cease to exist in the future? Will a time come when people stop going to cinemas entirely? Why or why not?

Paul

In my opinion, cinemas are here to stay. For thousands of years, people have been sharing the collective experience of watching a show, whether it was a live performance at a theater in ancient Greece or a recorded film in a cinema in today’s society. And they will continue to want that shared viewing experience.

Claire

I agree that cinemas are becoming obsolete, but I don’t think it’s because of technology. Many of the best films these days are being produced as ten- or twelve-part miniseries, with much more focus on character development. These productions are meant to be watched on television. You don’t need a big screen to enjoy them.

Due to the fact that technology can make people see films in their own houses, I think cinemas will cease to exist in the future. The development of technology allows people to buy cheap and good devices that can provide same experience as watching in the cinemas for people at houses. In the past, people have to spend money to buy tickets and cost lots of time to go to the cinemas to see the films, it will be more difficult for people who live in the countryside. Now, people can see excellent films in their own houses an anytime. It is so convient for people to see movies in their home that no one need to spend money to watch films in cinemas. While Paul has a point that cinemas can provide people for chance to share viewing experience, with the development of technology, people can easily share their instant ideas on the Internet. Therefore, they can have same experience at their own houses as in cinemas. In conclusion, that's why I think cinemas will cease exist in the future and people will stop going to cinemas entirely.

6.文章修订

In light of the technological advancements enabling people to watch films at home, I believe that cinemas will eventually become obsolete. Affordable and high-quality devices are now available, providing a similar experience to that of movie theaters within the comfort of one's home. Previously, individuals had to spend money on tickets and allocate time for traveling to cinemas, posing difficulties for those residing in rural areas. Presently, viewers can enjoy exceptional films at their convenience without leaving their homes.

While Paul argues that cinemas offer a shared viewing experience, advancements in technology allow people to instantly share their thoughts online, thus replicating this collective experience at home. Consequently, I predict that cinemas will cease to exist in the future as people opt for more convenient alternatives. (127 words)

In addition to Paul's perspective on shared exprience that cinemas can provide, I would like to emphasize that cinmeas, serving as a platform full of people with same interests and inspirations, play a significant role in people' social life. Nowadays, people are indulged in their heavy workload, lacking means to make new friends and expand their social network. In such case, when people are watching movies in cinemas, they are likely to have similar reactions toward same plot, which can act as an ice brearker for strangers to start conversation and discuss about details in movies. Moreover, like Paul mentions, watching movies is a kind of collective exprience which can strike deep chords, thereby audiences are capable of extending their chat topic to other fields from movies, such as books, or lives, which increase the possibility for them to become friends.

We do a lot of surveys to investigate the film, such as searching for information, reading some reviews and watching some bloggers' opinions. Besides, we can have a better communication with each other about the movie. Second, cinema is a good way to relax and feel good. It is undeniable that technology can make people watch films at home. However, we need to walk outside with our families and friends, right? In my opinion, I believe cinema is a good excuse to ask your friends to walk outside and play together. Section Title: The Future of Cinemas

In my view, cinemas will continue to thrive in the future, and I find myself resonating with Paul's perspective. There are two primary reasons for this belief. Firstly, cinemas foster a sense of community and shared experiences. For instance, when planning to watch a movie with friends, we often engage in extensive research beforehand, including gathering information, reading reviews, and seeking opinions from bloggers. This process not only enhances our anticipation but also facilitates meaningful discussions about the film.

In response to Dr. Diaz's question, I firmly believe that cinemas will continue to hold their ground despite the proliferation of internet streaming services. Paul's argument resonates with me, as he emphasizes the unique collective experience that cinemas offer, allowing people to watch movies together and connect on a deeper level. This shared experience is something that streaming services cannot replicate. Additionally, cinemas are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that enhance the visual and auditory aspects of films, which is difficult to achieve through online streaming on personal devices.

While Claire raises a valid point regarding the increasing popularity of miniseries designed for television viewing, I contend that this does not negate the appeal of traditional cinema releases. There will always be a demand for exceptional movies produced in conventional formats. Therefore, considering these factors, I maintain that people will continue to frequent cinemas in the future.

From my perspective, cinemas will still exist and a large number of people will choose to go to cinemas although many devices appear at home. This is because cinemas create a more fantastic experience with advanced service and cheap prices. With the development of technology, there are more and more devices both in cinemas and houses, but people cannot afford such expensive services and devices by themselves that their visual experiences at house are worse, compared to devices in cinemas. For instance, nowadays cinemas provide people with 3D glasses, surrounding sounds, and screens of tremendous size, which cannot be applied in an individual's house. Also, the price of these devices is too expensive to afford individuals, such as $3000 per device. On the contrary, in cinemas people only need to pay $30 to watch a film, which provides them with a chance to keep a balance between excellent experience and affordable price.

Section Title: The Future of Cinemas

In my view, cinemas will continue to thrive, as they offer a unique and immersive experience that cannot be replicated at home. Despite the prevalence of streaming services and advanced home entertainment systems, the allure of the cinema lies in its ability to provide a superior visual and auditory experience at an affordable cost. Technological advancements have indeed equipped both cinemas and homes with cutting-edge devices; however, the prohibitive costs associated with acquiring such equipment for personal use make it difficult for individuals to achieve comparable experiences in their own residences. For example, modern cinemas boast 3D glasses, surround sound systems, and massive screens that are not feasible for installation in a typical household. Furthermore, these devices can cost upwards of $3,000 each, making them financially inaccessible for most people. In contrast, a cinema ticket typically costs around $30—a small price to pay for an unparalleled viewing experience that strikes a balance between quality and affordability. (162 words)

While I concur with Paul's stance that cinemas will not vanish from our lives, I believe there are additional factors contributing to their continued existence. Cinemas offer an immersive environment, free from distractions, allowing audiences to fully engage with the story unfolding on the screen. Consequently, moviegoers often find themselves gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation for the film within this unique setting, which encourages frequent visits to the cinema.

For instance, I initially thought that online streaming services and personal devices would suffice for my movie-watching needs due to their convenience and cost-effectiveness. However, upon attending a film screening at a cinema with a friend, I discovered the unparalleled experience it provided - complete immersion in the narrative and an opportunity to truly appreciate the artistry of filmmaking. Since then, I have made it a point to visit the cinema weekly as a means of relaxation and enjoyment.

The potential disappearance of cinemas in the future would deprive individuals of this distinctive mode of film consumption, which would indeed be regrettable. (176 words)

Consequently, moviegoers often find themselves learn more in the cinema, having a good experience in the dark and silent atmosphere and willing to go to cinema frequently. gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation for the film within this unique setting, which encourages frequent visits to the cinema.

For example, I instance, I initially thought that online streaming services and personal devices would suffice for my movie-watching needs due to their convenience and cost-effectiveness (rephrased "I used to believe that I do not need to go to cinema..." for clarity and coherence). However, upon attending a film screening at a cinema for I can get any film resources from Internet and watching the movies using my computer, which is convenient and cost nothing. However, once with a friend (replaced "once my friends jack invited me to go to me..." with this phrase for better flow), I discovered the unparalleled experience it provided - complete immersion in the narrative and an opportunity to truly appreciate the artistry of filmmaking. Since then, I have made it a point to visit the cinema with him watching the movie. I found I really enjoy my time in the cinema, where I have the opportunity to totally emerged in the movie. After weekly as a means of relaxation and enjoyment (rephrased "After that, I go to cinema once a week to relax myself appreciate my favourite film. If week..." for better flow).

The potential disappearance of cinemas in the future would deprive individuals of this distinctive mode of film consumption (rephrased "If there were no cinemas in future, people future..." for better flow), which would have no place to watch films in this way. That indeed be regrettable (changed "That is really a pity.pity" to "which would indeed be regrettable" for a more formal tone).

I wholeheartedly concur with Paul's perspective that cinemas will persist as an integral part of our future. Although online streaming services and platforms have provided numerous options for movie lovers, the unique shared experience of watching films in a cinema remains unparalleled. Human beings possess an innate gregarious nature, which drives our desire for companionship and shared experiences. Engaging in activities such as watching movies together fosters companionship, whether it be with loved ones or complete strangers. This experience is amplified when watching certain genres, such as action or horror films, which evokes stronger emotional responses in a theater setting. Furthermore, the sensory pleasure derived from viewing a film on the big screen cannot be replicated through television or tablet screens. The immersive audiovisual experience offered by sound systems and high-definition visuals in cinemas significantly surpasses what can be achieved at home. In light of these factors, I firmly believe that cinemas will continue to thrive in society regardless of technological advancements in home entertainment options.

Section Title:

In my opinion, cinemas will stay alive in the future. I totally concur with Paul's argument that people are always sharing the collective experience in cinemas, and I would like to add that going to cinemas is an effective stress-reducing strategy for modern people. More specifically, the fact that many people work overtime and live a hectic lifestyle indicates the significance of a variery of entertainment. By watching a movie in the cinema, not only can people create shared memories and maintain a steady relationship with their acquainted friends, but also they are able to purchase popcorn and beverage while enjoying the interesting plots of a movie. Therefore, cinemas enable people to have a lot of fun, guaranteeing that they will not be replaced in the future. While Claire raises a relevant point that cinemas are becoming obsolete because we can watch movies on the television, some essential facts are left out of consideration. After all, we usually spend a large quantity of time in our home, so it is boring for us to try entertainment at home as well. In contrast, going to cinemas offers a quite novel experience for us. In conclusion, Claire's reason is not strong enough to outweigh the benefits of cinemas.

In my opinion, cinemas will stay alive in the future. More specifically, the fact that many people work overtime and live a hectic lifestyle indicates the significance of a varieryvariety(misspelling) of entertainment. Therefore, cinemas enable people to have a lot of fun, guaranteeing that they will not be replaced in the future.

After all, we usually spend a large quantity of time in our home, so it is boring for us to try entertainment at home as well. In contrast, going to cinemas offers a quite novel experience for us. In my opinion, cinemas will continue to thrive in the future. I wholeheartedly agree with Paul's assertion that people have always sought out shared experiences in various forms of entertainment, and I would like to emphasize that visiting a cinema serves as an effective stress-relief strategy for contemporary individuals. The demanding nature of modern life, characterized by long working hours and hectic schedules, highlights the importance of diverse leisure activities. Attending a movie screening not only fosters shared memories and strengthens bonds among friends but also allows patrons to indulge in treats like popcorn and beverages while immersing themselves in captivating narratives. Consequently, the multifaceted appeal of cinemas ensures their enduring relevance.

Although Claire presents a valid argument that the rise of television series and miniseries may contribute to the obsolescence of cinemas, her perspective overlooks several crucial factors. Spending significant amounts of time at home can become monotonous, making it less appealing to seek entertainment within the same environment. In contrast, visiting a cinema provides a refreshing change of scenery and a unique experience that cannot be replicated at home. Therefore, despite Claire's concerns, the numerous advantages offered by cinemas solidify their position as an irreplaceable source of entertainment in society. (205 words)
