These educators argue that soft skills-non-academic skills such as being empathetic or having a strong ability.

Student A

While students need a strong foundation in academic subjects, soft skills are important because they affect well students do their work.If classroom time is set as for these skills, students will take them seriously and academic work will benefit.Teachers could design less so that students learn about a skill and then do role-playing activities with classmates.

Student B

Soft skills are important, but I don't agree with using classroom time to work on them.I'm not sure how teachers would measure students' progress in develop these skills. If students' progress can't be measured or something being taught,I'm not sure if there's any teaching it.

Recently, the question of whether schools should include soft skills like being empathetic or having a strong work ethic in their curriculum have been disputed by educators. Andrew argues that since there is no clear method of measuring student's progress on the soft-skills, so learning it using classroom time does not worth it. However, the essence of these soft skills should not be measured, it is not the subjects in school such as mathematic and English that requires the strong level of comprehension in the future, soft-skills only requires students to master it. Just like Claire suggested, learning soft-skills can consolidate student's mind of study, because they will understand the the importance of academic skills after they learn it. In addition student will make progress on their academic work faster because they will know how to collaborate and communicate with their classmate in order to help themselves.

The debate over whether schools should incorporate soft skills, such as empathy and a strong work ethic, into their curricula has been a contentious issue among educators. Andrew contends that since there is no definitive method for measuring students' progress in soft skills, allocating classroom time for them may not be worthwhile. However, the value of these soft skills should not be underestimated. Unlike subjects like mathematics and English that necessitate a high level of comprehension, mastering soft skills can enhance students' overall learning experience. As Claire suggests, acquiring soft skills can reinforce students' understanding of the importance of academic abilities. Furthermore, students may make more rapid progress in their academic work as they learn to collaborate and communicate effectively with classmates, ultimately benefiting themselves. (129 words)
