Group projects are an essential part of everyday life in school. Here comes the question: Is it better to work independently, separating the quest equally into different parts, with each member responsible to his or her own part only, or is it better to collaborate in every step of the process? What is your take?

Smith

I prefer to work independently while doing a group project as I am concerned about the possible occurrence of free-riding if students choose to collaborate in the whole process. After all, not everyone is responsible in his or her own part, it is highly possible for the "free rider" to simply rely on the efforts of other people without contributing to the team. Unless extra mechanism can be arranged to prevent free-riding from happening (for example, teachers can let team members grade each other's contribution to the team), otherwise, I could not trust the achievements done by collaboration between students while doing a group project.

Zoe

I see your point, Smith, but I prefer to work collaboratively when doing a group project. My experience serves as a precise example. When I was in junior high school, two of my classmates and I were assigned to deliver a survey regarding students' opinion towards the cafeteria renovation program. We drew the initial plan together, decided the exact method of surveying students together, processed the data together, and wrote the report together. Even if there was a disagreement among us, we expressed our idea, tried to reach a compromise, and learned from each other in the process. In the end, we delivered an eminent presentation in front of the class, receiving applauses and an "A +" This is one of the best experiences in my life, and I benefit from it even until now.

I agree with Smith that the work should be separated into sevaral equall parts and undertaken by different members, since this makes everyone’s responsibility clear. While if we collaborate in every step, every group member will possess little responsibility for this work and only few students will fully engage with this work. In addition, working independently allow every members to exert thier own special talent in a special field. For instance, when preparing a presentation, the students who are good at painting can prepare for the picture, who are good at logic can organize the words, and who are good at speech can give this presentation in the front of classmates. In conclusion, working separately not only clarifies the responsibility everyone should take, but also can fully exert everyones merits.

In response to the professor's question, I concur with Smith that dividing tasks equally among group members is a more effective approach. This method ensures individual accountability and allows each person to contribute their unique skills to the project. For example, in preparing a presentation, students with artistic abilities can create visuals, those with strong logical skills can organize the content, and those with excellent public speaking skills can deliver the presentation. By assigning specific responsibilities, we not only establish clear expectations for each member but also maximize the utilization of everyone's strengths in achieving a successful outcome. I wholeheartedly agree with Student A that the government should not impose additional fees on industries, as it could negatively impact economic development. To elaborate, when faced with high penalties or taxes, industries already experiencing financial or operational difficulties may be forced to downsize or hire fewer workers. Meanwhile, companies capable of paying these charges might increase the prices of their products to offset their expenses. As a result, people will suffer from the ripple effect caused by increased taxes. For example, consumers may have to pay more for products and become disillusioned with the market, leading them to be more cautious and selective when spending their money. Furthermore, the overall unemployment rate could rise, damaging citizens' living standards and well-being.

While Student B argues that imposing fees encourages companies to invest in finding new production methods that are less harmful to the environment, they fail to acknowledge that discovering alternative energy sources or techniques often requires substantial financial investment beyond the reach of most businesses. Therefore, adding extra burdens on companies already struggling to survive in an economic downturn is counterproductive. (186 words)

I would like to add that this action will let some companies which do not obey the rules before adhere the environment protection laws. Because of that, they will not to produce heavy contaminated pollutants to the river, lakes and any other natural places. While John raised the relevant point that it is not necessary for the government to take such stricter actions, but he did not mention that if the government would not take these behaviors, some pollutants made by some companies will exacerbate spread of contaminations to our living natural places. For example, when I was a child, my hometown's environment was deteriorated by some pollutants which made by electronic industry and companies. And the government has been taken so much effort to deal with this problem for many years. In conclusion, I would like to say that I sincerely hope the government should take these actions to shield our natural environment.

In my opinion, imposing stricter taxes and larger fines on companies causing environmental damage, as Sarah suggested, is the most effective way for governments to protect our environment. This approach will encourage companies that previously disregarded environmental protection laws to comply with them, thereby reducing pollution in rivers, lakes, and other natural habitats. Although John argued that penalties might not be necessary and that education and awareness should be prioritized, he failed to consider that without government intervention, pollution caused by these companies could worsen and further contaminate our natural habitats. In my opinion, governments should indeed provide financial support to artists, as art transcends the realm of mere commercial products and significantly contributes to public welfare. While art may appear impractical at first glance, it profoundly influences various practical aspects such as social activity and public education. A study conducted by Peking University revealed that communities immersed in an artistic atmosphere, where artists congregate, tend to attract high-income populations, subsequently maintaining elevated real estate prices. Given the benefits generated by active artists, it is justifiable for governments to invest in and compensate them for their work. In my opinion, governments should enforce the use of safety equipment, as their primary responsibility is to protect citizens' well-being and discourage unsafe behaviors.

Governments are elected to safeguard the safety of their constituents, even if some individuals lack proper safety awareness. In my opinion, supporting recreational activities offers greater advantages than art programs. As Kelly mentioned, there may be a small number of citizens interested in the arts, so the investment in concerts and museums can be wasteful. Furthermore, I would like to emphasize that entertainment facilities and places such as hiking trails and parks are an integral aspect of individuals’ healthy lives and significantly impact our physical and mental well-being. Specifically, funding recreational activities provides people with an excellent opportunity to engage in outdoor physical activities in their spare time, serving as an effective stress-reliever to help people unwind and rejuvenate. In contrast, attending performances in concerts cannot have people enjoy the fresh air and relax their muscles, and can even give rise to negative emotions infected by the contents of performances.

In my view, prioritizing recreational activities yields more substantial benefits than funding arts programs. As Kelly pointed out, a limited number of citizens may be genuinely interested in the arts, rendering investments in concerts and museums potentially inefficient. Moreover, I would like to underscore the importance of entertainment facilities and spaces such as hiking trails and parks, which play a crucial role in promoting individuals' overall health and well-being. In my perspective, Lisa's argument is compelling. Rapid advancements in medical technology have led to significant achievements in prolonging life expectancy. More individuals can now overcome severe illnesses that were once deemed incurable, thereby contributing to the overall increase in life expectancy.

While John contends that improvements in government services play a more crucial role due to their implementation of stringent policies and measures to reduce health problems, he fails to acknowledge the direct impact that medical professionals and technology have on saving lives during critical situations. For instance, when a patient requires immediate surgery, relying on government policies promoting healthy lifestyles would be insufficient. In such cases, advancements in medical technologies prove to be more effective in extending life expectancy.

In conclusion, both factors undoubtedly contribute to the increase in life expectancy; however, the immediate and direct impact of medical technology advancements cannot be overlooked. Section Title: 6 Article Revision

In response to the professor's question, I concur with Paul's assertion that survival is the fundamental human right, as life itself holds paramount importance. With the increasing prevalence of car ownership, it is entirely justifiable for governments to mandate the use of safety equipment while driving. Many individuals may neglect these precautions if not legally enforced, which could be attributed to human nature. If governments were to prioritize personal choice over public safety, numerous preventable tragedies might ensue. Therefore, I firmly believe that governmental intervention in enforcing safety measures is both necessary and warranted. (99 words)

In response to the professor's question (clarifying the context), I agree concur with Paul when he said Paul's assertion (more formal language) that survival is the primal fundamental human right, because personally speaking, there's nothing right (more important than precise wording), as life itself holds paramount importance (more formal language). With the life itself. Nowadays increasing prevalence of car ownership (more and more people have their own car, and I think it's very reasonable accurate description), it is entirely justifiable for governments to require people mandate the use of safety equipment while driving (clearer phrasing). Many individuals may neglect these precautions if not legally enforced, which could be attributed to use human nature (more concise and clear). If governments were to prioritize personal choice over public safety, numerous preventable tragedies might ensue (more formal language and clearer phrasing). 6.文章修订

In the debate between public and private transportation, I firmly believe that public transportation is the more sustainable and beneficial option for society. As Lisa suggested, public transportation is essential for reducing traffic congestion and promoting sustainable transportation options. It offers great convenience, allowing people to travel to various destinations with ease, particularly in urban areas where traffic congestion is a major problem.

On one hand, public transportation provides an affordable and accessible option for individuals to get around. Extensive subway and bus lines cover even the most remote corners of a city, ensuring efficient travel for all. On the other hand, it also reduces pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, promoting a more sustainable way of living.

While Tom raises a valid point about the importance of individual freedom and convenience provided by private transportation, he fails to consider its negative impact on the environment. The increased use of private cars contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, which in turn exacerbate global warming. For instance, in my hometown where people predominantly use their own cars, air quality has been deteriorating over the past five years, especially during winter months.

In conclusion, considering both environmental sustainability and accessibility factors, I strongly advocate for public transportation as the most viable solution for modern societies. (213 words)

Overall, I would say that it is a responsibility for government to solve this.

6.文章修订

In the debate regarding college tuition fees, I firmly agree with Claire's perspective that college tuition fees should not be paid by individual students. Firstly, it is important to consider the financial challenges many people face today, as government taxes are constantly increasing. In light of this, some individuals may not have enough budget to cover college tuition fees.

Although Paul raised a relevant point that it may not be the government's responsibility to cover these fees, he did not mention that one of the most crucial duties of the government is to serve its people. Addressing the financial burden of college tuition fees is a significant aspect of this duty. For instance, in my hometown, our government provides insurance for all undergraduate students, which greatly aids them in completing their bachelor's degrees.

Overall, I would argue that it is the government's responsibility to address this issue and alleviate the financial stress on families and students. By doing so, we can create a more equitable society where access to higher education is not limited by one's financial situation. (179 words)

Odpowiedzi z wyższą oceną wykorzystują zróżnicowane struktury zdań i słownictwo akademickie.

Zarządzanie czasem to kluczowy czynnik — odpowiedzi, które sprawiają wrażenie pospiesznych, zwykle otrzymują niższą ocenę za rozwinięcie.
