Panoramica del Task
Testo di Lettura
Split Graduation Traditionally, the university holds one ceremony for all graduating students, during which students are awarded their diplomas. Beginning this year, however, the university will hold two graduation ceremonies. Under the new arrangement, half the graduating students will participate in the first ceremony, and the other will participate in a second ceremony to be held the following day. Administrators cite two reasons for the change. First, the number of students has increased in recent years, and since diplomas are awarded individually, the single ceremony has become uncomfortably long. Also, the hall where the ceremony is held is too small to accommodate the growing audience of friends and family members.
Domanda
The woman expresses her opinion about the university’s plan. Briefly summarize the plan. Then state her opinion and explain the reasons she gives for holding that opinion.

修订版(140字):
Well, the university wants to split the graduation ceremony. This is because the number of students has increased, and as a result, the ceremony has become uncomfortably long. Moreover, the hall is too small to accommodate all the friends and family members. However, the woman disagrees with this plan. Firstly, she believes that it would be easy to shorten the ceremony simply by reducing the number of speeches. Currently, the university allows many people to give speeches, which she considers unnecessary and boring. Furthermore, she thinks that the main issue is that the school allows students to invite an excessive number of guests. If they simply limit each student to six guests, the issue would be resolved. Therefore, the woman opposes the proposed plan.

Revised Answer (140 words):
According to the university's plan, there will be two graduation ceremonies. This change is due to the increase in the number of students in recent years. As a result, a single ceremony becomes impractical. Additionally, the hall is too small to accommodate an increasing number of students and their family members. However, the woman disagrees with this approach. She believes it's unnecessary as there are simpler solutions to these issues. Firstly, the university can make the ceremony shorter by reducing the number of speeches, which would save time and maintain the interest of the audience. Secondly, she suggests limiting the number of guests each graduate can invite, which would help to manage the space issue in the hall. By implementing these changes, the university could maintain a single graduation ceremony while addressing the concerns raised.

5.语言使用Original Answer: The university plans to split the graduation because of the growing number of students. The ceremony lasts too long and the hall is too small to accommodate so many guests of the students. However, the woman in the conversation doesn't agree with this. First, she says the university can reduce the number of the speeches and also they can reduce the guests from 10 people to 6 people so that the ceremony can stay the way it is.
Corrected Answer: The university plans to split divide (“divide” 更自然地表达分割的意思) the graduation because of the growing number of students. The ceremony lasts too long and the hall is too small to accommodate so many guests of the large number of guests for (这样的表达更自然流畅) the students. However, the woman in the conversation doesn't agree with this. First, she says the university can reduce the number of the speeches speeches given (这样的表达更清晰明确) and also they can reduce the guests from 10 people to 6 people so that the ceremony can stay the way it is as it was before (这样的表达更自然地描述保持原状的意思).
Revised Answer (140 words): The university intends to divide its graduation ceremony due to the increasing number of students. The ceremony has become too lengthy, and the hall is insufficient in size to accommodate the large number of guests for each student. However, the woman in the conversation disagrees with this plan. She proposes two alternative solutions to address the issues. Firstly, she suggests that the university could reduce the number of speeches given during the ceremony, as there are currently too many speakers, including students, professors, administrators, and the university president. Secondly, she recommends limiting the number of guests each graduating student can invite from ten to six people. By implementing these changes, she believes that the ceremony can maintain its original format without having to be split into two separate events.
