Resumen de la Tarea

Texto de Lectura

Groupthink  One process by which groups may make bad or irrational decisions is known as groupthink. Individual members of a group attempt to conform their opinions to what they believe to be the group consensus even though the result may be negative. There are many reasons why groupthink happens. These include the desire to be liked, fear of losing a job, or even not wanting to be the one employee delaying a decision that seems inevitable. These kinds of implicit pressures to conform lead group members to ultimately make decisions that each, by himself or herself, might normally not make.

23. 3.Delivery

The speaker's delivery is generally clear and fluid, but there are occasional pauses that disrupt the flow of speech. To improve, the speaker should practice maintaining a consistent pace and minimizing unnecessary pauses. Additionally, the speaker should work on pronunciation to avoid any spelling errors that may result from inaccuracies in speech.

4.Topic Development The response is coherent and well-organized, with clear connections between ideas and sufficient support or examples. However, there is room for improvement in providing more specific details from both the reading and listening passages to strengthen the response. The speaker should also focus on using more varied sentence structures and vocabulary to enhance the overall quality of the answer.

5.Language Use

The reading of high stage reading passage (clarification for better understanding) mainly talks about groupthink, which refers to one process by which groups may make insensible irrational (corrected word choice) decisions. In the business measurement management (corrected word choice) class, the professor used his own working experience in a computer company as an example to illustrate the concept. Actually, he and his co-worker wanted to make a design makeover in order to attract new customers. In the beginning, half of his colleagues approved their plan, but some seniors disagreed with them because they thought their focus was technology and the change was necessary unnecessary (corrected word choice for accurate meaning). Then suddenly, most of his supporters and even his co-worker changed their mind because they didn't want to have a bad impression on the senior managers. Finally, the professor also voted against his own idea, but the end result was terrible. His competitor made a new design and prevented the company from profiting from new customers.

Revised Answer (140 words):

The reading passage discusses groupthink, a process where groups make irrational decisions due to conformity pressures. In a business management class, the professor shared his experience at a computer company to illustrate this concept. He and his coworker proposed a design makeover to attract new customers. Initially, half of their colleagues supported the idea, but some senior managers opposed it, believing their focus should be on technology and that the change was unnecessary. Subsequently, many supporters, including the coworker, changed their stance to avoid leaving a negative impression on senior managers. The professor eventually voted against his own proposal, leading to a poor outcome. Their competitor introduced a new design, attracting potential customers and negatively impacting their company's profits.

Original: Group thinking refers to the concept that some individuals may conform their own ideas to the group concepts, even it may be negative for them, for the whole group. In the lesson, the professor takes himself as an example. In the computer company, he and his co-worker decided to make the outer design of their computer cooler, and so to attract more customers. However, there are some senior managers that didn't support their ideas, and then most of their workers changed their ideas against their designers, and in the end even the professor himself began to not support his own ideas, and finally they gave up this idea.

Corrected: Group thinking Groupthink (原词为“Group thinking”,正确的词是“Groupthink”) refers to the concept that some individuals may conform their own ideas to the group concepts the perceived group consensus (原句不够准确,应改为“the perceived group consensus”以更好地表达概念), even if it may be negative for them or the whole group. In the lesson, the professor uses himself as an example. In the computer company, he and his co-worker decided to make the outer design of their computers more attractive in order to attract more customers. However, some senior managers didn't support their idea, and then most of their colleagues changed their opinions against the proposed design change. In the end, even the professor himself began to not support his own idea, and finally they gave up on it.

Revised (140 words): Groupthink is a phenomenon where individuals conform their opinions to match the perceived group consensus, even if it may be negative for them or the whole group. The professor's experience in a computer company serves as an example. He and his co-worker proposed a more attractive outer design for their computers to attract more customers. However, some senior managers opposed the idea, causing most of their colleagues to change their opinions against the design change. Eventually, even the professor stopped supporting his own idea, and they abandoned the proposal. This example demonstrates the effects of groupthink, where individuals prioritize conformity over their own beliefs, leading to potentially negative outcomes for the group as a whole.

Original Answer: The newspaper contend that the university should allow students to eat in class. That is because students will be able to concentrate better without hunger, and they will have a chance to have an in-class party at the end of the semester. However, the man in the conversation disagreed with this. He thinks that the snack will only help the people who eat it, and the others will get hurt from it, because they will pay attention to the noises and they can't concentrate anymore. Besides, the man argued that the last day of the semester is important because students will use it to review on the final exam. If they use the classes to take the party, they won't get well prepared for the exam and they will do bad in it. That is why the man disagreed with the newspaper's proposal.
