Doctor Smith
We've been discussing government budgets and the difficult decisions governments must make regarding the use of public funds. Some services are clearly essential and must be paid for by any government. But what about public funding of the arts? Do you believe that governments should provide financial support for artists- for example, painters, sculptors, musicians, or filmmakers? Why or why not?
Amy
I enjoy art as much as anyone does, but public funds come from taxes, and I don't think taxpayers' hard-earned money should be spent on impractical or inessential items and services. Artists should support themselves by selling their work to private individual sand companies. If they can't find enough buyers, then maybe they should change careers.
Rory
Personally I think art actually is essential. Lots of public spaces in my hometown just wouldn't be the same without artwork. From statues in public parks to murals painted on the walls of government buildings, m y hometown really benefits from funding the artists who created these works.The public spaces are simply more enjoyable for visitors because of the artwork.

例如,“the funds should be used in practical ways”和“the funds comes from taxpayer’s should be used for health and education”表达了相似的意思。

In my opinion, the government should not allocate funds for artists. I agree with Amy's viewpoint that since the majority of government funds come from taxpayers' hard-earned money, these resources should be utilized in practical ways. Moreover, I believe that taxpayer funds should be directed towards health and education sectors to enhance the overall quality of life for citizens. Additionally, these funds could be used to support individuals facing challenging circumstances. Although Rory highlighted the significance of art in daily life, he failed to acknowledge that improving public living standards can also contribute positively to people's well-being. For example, affordable and efficient public transportation can swiftly transport individuals to various destinations, thereby enriching their lives. (119 words)

According to the compelling query posed by Dr. Achebe, while I understand Paul’s opinion that the government should build entirely new highways to solve the range anxiety and show the potential of electric cars, I align my view with Claire’s perspective that government should reduce tax for building charging stations instead. With reduced taxes on building the stations is reduced, businesses can establish more charging stations compared to when the tax is at a standard rate when selling electric cars. This will naturally alleviate the range of anxiety. Moreover, the low tax can lead to advancements in electric vehicles charging technology as it would allow the companies to realize greater profits. Big battery density, efficient electric engine and wise copilot system could all become possible as companies have more resources devoted in electric cars than the time that tax is big. However, Paul’s view seems impractical. Nowadays, almost all our cities already have completed highway transportation nets. In order to build absolutely new highways, the concerns are not only on the enormously costs associated with building, but also the potential disruption to the original highways for classic cars. The government must first consider a realistic approach.

例如,“With reduced taxes on building the stations is reduced” 应该改为 "With reduced taxes on building the stations."
Moreover, the low tax can lead to advancements in electric vehicles charging technology... However, Paul’s view seems impractical.”
-
One of the main reasons I support Claire's view is that reduced taxes can lead to more charging stations and technological advancements.”

Title: 6
In response to Dr. Achebe's thought-provoking question, I appreciate Paul's suggestion of constructing exclusive highways for electric vehicles to address range anxiety and demonstrate their potential. However, I concur with Claire's perspective that the government should offer tax incentives for businesses to build charging stations. By reducing taxes on the construction of charging stations, businesses can establish a more extensive network compared to maintaining standard tax rates on electric vehicle sales. This approach will naturally alleviate range anxiety.
Furthermore, lower taxes can lead to advancements in electric vehicle charging technology, as it would enable companies to realize greater profits. Increased battery density, efficient electric engines, and intelligent copilot systems could all become feasible as companies allocate more resources towards electric vehicles than when taxes are high.
On the other hand, Paul's proposal seems impractical. Most cities already have established highway transportation networks. Building entirely new highways would not only entail enormous costs but also potentially disrupt existing infrastructure for conventional vehicles. The government must prioritize a more realistic approach in promoting electric vehicle adoption for environmental protection. (180 words)

While I can see Amy’s point that it is not necessary to invest in impractical items in arts because artists can sell their works to earn money, I agree with Rory that giving financial assistance to artwork is essential to the development of cities. As mentioned by Rory, with artworks such as modern painting in parks’ walls, famous sculptures on the center square and great concert hold in the open areas, more visitors will be captivated to visit the city, enhancing the city’s reputation in culture development. Apart from what Rory mentions, I add that giving financial help to artwork boost the economy. By allocating money in building modern art museums, constructing high-tech cinema and shooting appealing films, the government will attract more external attention to the city, which give the city the chance to attract more investment in business.However, without the help from the government, artist may find it hard to make their ends meet since they don’t have well-known museums or fancy opera houses to show and advertise their artwork.

While I understand Amy's perspective that public funds should not be allocated to seemingly impractical aspects of the arts, I concur with Rory that providing financial support for artistic endeavors is crucial for a city's development. As Rory mentioned, the presence of various art forms such as murals in parks, iconic sculptures in central squares, and open-air concerts can significantly enhance a city's cultural appeal, attracting more visitors and elevating its reputation. Furthermore, I believe that investing in the arts can also stimulate economic growth. By allocating resources to construct state-of-the-art museums, cutting-edge cinemas, and producing captivating films, the government can draw increased external attention to the city. This heightened interest may subsequently lead to greater business investment opportunities. However, without governmental assistance, artists may struggle to make ends meet due to limited access to renowned museums or prestigious performance venues for showcasing and promoting their work.
