Professor

These past few weeks, the films we've watched have all been thought-provoking. We all came away with questions that weren't answered in the film, and that led to some great discussions. These serious films made us think deeply about important topics. Some critics would argue that these types of films are the only ones worth watching and that films made purely for entertainment aren't worth going to. What are your thoughts on the issue?

Kelly

I absolutely agree! For me, a film is only worth watching if it has me asking questions to myself afterward. I avoid big- budget blockbusters with a lot of car chases and explosions. I look at watching a movie like reading literature-l want to feel like I have learned something when it's over.

Paul

I personally prefer thought-provoking films, but that doesn't mean I don't see value in films made for entertainment purposes. Sometimes you just want to escape into fantasy for a couple of hours-to forget about what's going on in your life-and a fast-paced action movie can help you do that.

Nutzerbeispiel

I agree with Paul's opinion that watching movies for entertainment purpose is a right way to relax yourself. After all, for some people, the reason why they choose to watch movies is to escape from their everyday routines. Watching thought-provoking movies require audience to think critically, which cost their time and energy. In addition, these movies also serve as a choice for family activities. Children prefer to watch cartoon movies or entertaining movies, because they now lack the ability to think critically, which will be developed in their future.Parents can also escape from the situation where they find it hard to choose where to go. For example, during my spring break, I went to see a popular entertaining movie with my family, providing me a time to comfort and cultivate family bond. All in all, both kinds of movies are needed.
