نص القراءة

Letter in the Centerville College News The administration has plans to acquire a new sculpture for campus. We should all oppose this plan. The university’s poor financial condition led it to increase the price for campus housing and tuition by 15% this past year. Surely then it is in no financial position to purchase such an expensive sculpture. Moreover, just look at the sculpture: several 60-foot long steel plates, jutting out of the earth at odd angles! It’s so large, it’ll take up all the green space in front of the campus center! This is public space that should be reserved for students to use.

Original Answer: In the passage, it talks about a notice that the university planned to match the roommates based on students' interests. In the conversation, the woman disagrees with the letter's reasons for opposing the new sculpture on campus. (原文内容与问题不符,需要根据听力材料进行修改。) First, it can improve the experience of the first-year students to get along well with others. Secondly, it can reduce the work for the housing office because few students will switch rooms in the middle of the school. Firstly, she points out that an anonymous donor is paying for most of the sculpture, not the university. Secondly, she believes that Paul's concern about space is due to his personal convenience as he and his friends play soccer in that area. (修改内容以回答问题要求。) However, the woman disagreed with this idea. Firstly, she said it doesn't need similar interests to make friends. She and her roommates have different personalities, but they are friends. And secondly, there are many cases for students to decide to move, such as they have different schedules or they want better locations. So even they have similar interests, they still want to move.

Revised Answer (140 words): In the conversation, the woman disagrees with the letter's reasons for opposing the new sculpture on campus. Firstly, she points out that an anonymous donor is paying for most of the sculpture, not the university. This contradicts Paul's assumption that purchasing such an expensive sculpture would put a financial burden on the university. Secondly, she believes that Paul's concern about the sculpture taking up all the green space in front of the campus center is due to his personal convenience. She explains that Paul and his friends often play soccer in that area, and they would have to find another place to play if the sculpture is installed. Therefore, the woman thinks that Paul's opposition to the sculpture is based on incorrect assumptions and personal convenience rather than genuine concerns for the university or its students.

Original Answer: According to the letter, Paul opposed the idea that school requires a new sculpture for campus. This is because of the poor financial condition, which increases the housing and tuition fees, and the sculpture is too large and takes up the green space. The woman doesn't support about this change to about his ideas. To begin with, she points out that the sculpture is donated by someone and she is really glad to see a nice art in the campus. Moreover, she argues that sculpture doesn't take up the space. Paul doesn't want to change since it takes up the place he kick soccer.

Corrected Answer: According to the letter, Paul opposes the idea of adding a new sculpture to the campus. He cites the school's poor financial condition, which led to increased housing and tuition fees, and also argues that the sculpture is too large and will occupy valuable green space. The woman disagrees with his reasoning. Firstly, she highlights that an anonymous donor is funding the sculpture, so it won't burden the school financially. She is also excited about having an impressive piece of art on campus. Furthermore, she contends that although the sculpture will take up some space, it won't significantly impact students' activities. Paul's resistance stems from his personal inconvenience since he plays soccer in that area. Revised Answer (140 words): The woman in the conversation disagrees with the reasons expressed in the letter for two main reasons. First, she believes that an anonymous donor is paying for most of the sculpture, not the university as mentioned in the letter. This means that Paul's concern about the university's poor financial condition is not valid since it is not spending its own money on the sculpture. Second, she thinks that Paul's concern about losing green space is due to his personal convenience, as he and his friends play soccer on the lawn where the sculpture will be placed. The woman suggests that they can simply use another part of the campus to play soccer. Therefore, she finds Paul's arguments unconvincing and supports having a new sculpture on campus.

So, other professions should also be considered like the teacher since they are also very influential and successful. Besides, the business program is already very big and well-known, so it doesn't really need the extra attention or free advertisement that the graduation speaker will bring. However, the education program can really benefit from this since it is a very great training teacher program but it is less well-known, so this can really draw more attention to this program. First, she believes that the sculpture will enhance the artistic and aesthetic appeal of the campus, benefiting everyone. Second, an anonymous donor is funding the sculpture, so there will be no increase in tuition or housing fees due to its installation, contrary to what the letter suggests. Third, the space where the sculpture will be placed was previously used by the letter writer for playing soccer. However, this space is a public area open to everyone, so it doesn't infringe on other people's rights to use it. The woman thinks that the writer's opposition stems from his personal inconvenience rather than genuine concerns about the sculpture's impact on campus life, which is why she supports its installation.
