Subliminal Perception  Humans are constantly perceiving visual and auditory stimuli. Sometimes our perception of these stimuli occurs consciously: we are aware of a stimulus and know that we are perceiving it. But our perception of a stimulus can also occur without our awareness: an image might appear and disappear before our eyes too quickly for us to notice that we saw it, or a sound might be too faint for us to realize that we heard it. This phenomenon—the perception of a stimulus just below the threshold of conscious awareness—is called subliminal perception. Experiments have shown that subliminally perceived stimuli can influence people's thoughts and attitudes.

4.话题发展 回答内容基本上符合题目要求,描述了潜意识感知的定义,并解释了教授所提到的实验如何说明这一现象。但在描述实验时,有些细节描述不够准确,例如提到了两个女孩而不是两组人。建议在练习时注意准确传达信息,并在组织内容时保持条理清晰。

Original: In the professor's example, there were two girls, In the professor's example, there were two groups, (原文中提到的是两组人,而不是两个女孩) and they were asked to say a picture, and they were asked to view a picture, (使用“view”替换“say”,使句子更自然) and the picture flashed quickly on the screen. And the picture described a boy with a birthday cake. And the first group saw the boy who looked very angry, and the second group saw the boy with a big smile. And after that, they were asked to say a third picture, where the boy held a cake, and there was no emotion on his face. And after that, they were asked to describe the personality of the boy, and the first group who saw the angry boy described the boy negatively, while the second group described the boy positively.

Revised (140 words): Subliminal perception is when we perceive stimuli just below our conscious awareness threshold. In the professor's experiment, two groups of participants were asked to view an image that flashed quickly on a screen. The image depicted a boy with a birthday cake, showing anger in one version and happiness in another. Afterward, participants viewed a third image of the same boy holding a cake with a neutral expression. They were then asked to describe his personality. Those who had seen the angry version perceived him negatively, while those who had seen the happy version perceived him positively. This experiment demonstrates how subliminally perceived stimuli can influence our thoughts and attitudes, even when we are not consciously aware of them.

During the show, two different pictures flashed on the screen for just one second. Both pictures featured a boy holding a cake, but in one image, the boy was smiling and happy, while in the other, he appeared angry. Afterward, participants were asked to view a third image of the boy with a neutral expression. The group that saw the angry picture perceived the boy negatively, while those who saw the happy image viewed him positively. 修订版(140词):

Subliminal perception occurs when we are aware of stimuli just below our conscious level. The information stimulates our brain, and we may potentially notice it. In the lecture, the professor describes an experiment in which people are divided into two groups. Each group is shown a briefly flashed picture of a boy with a birthday cake. One group sees an angry boy, while the other sees a happy boy. When they are shown a second picture, which remains on the screen for a longer period, and the boy has a neutral expression with the birthday cake, the groups exhibit different responses, either negative or positive. These responses reveal that the participants were influenced by their initial subliminal exposure to the boy's emotion in the first picture. This experiment demonstrates the concept of subliminal perception and its impact on people's thoughts and attitudes.

3.Delivery The speaker's delivery could be improved. The speech is not very fluid and has occasional pauses. There are also some pronunciation issues, such as "distinct" instead of "faint" and "their personality" instead of "his personality." To improve, the speaker should practice speaking more fluidly and work on accurate pronunciation.

4.Topic Development The response does describe subliminal perception and the experiment discussed by the professor. However, the organization and clarity of the response could be improved. The speaker should focus on providing a more coherent and well-organized response, with clear connections between ideas and sufficient support or examples. For example, the speaker could first define subliminal perception, then describe the experiment in detail, and finally explain how the results of the experiment illustrate subliminal perception.

5.Language Use

Revised (140 words): Subliminal perception occurs when we unconsciously perceive stimuli, such as brief images and faint sounds. The professor conducted an experiment to illustrate this phenomenon. Two groups of participants were shown a picture of a boy displaying an emotion for a very short duration. One group saw the boy with a happy expression, while the other group saw him with an angry expression. Afterward, the professor presented a neutral image of the boy without any emotions and asked the participants to describe his personality. The group that had been exposed to the angry image tended to describe the boy's personality negatively, whereas the group that had seen the happy image described him positively. This experiment demonstrates how subliminal perception can influence people's thoughts and attitudes without their conscious awareness.
