University Makes Changes to Orientation Program Madison University is making a change to the orientation program for first-year students. Revised Answer (140 words): The reading passage states that the university plans to modify the orientation program for first-year students, and the man supports this change for two reasons. Firstly, it is about providing options, as he believes that not everyone has the same preferences, making it better for students to choose between a two-day hiking trip or another activity. This way, more students can participate in an activity they enjoy. Secondly, he mentioned that not everyone wants to dedicate their entire weekend to the orientation program. Some students might prefer to buy books, set up their rooms, or prepare for their first day of classes instead. By shortening the duration of the activities, the university can accommodate these students' needs and make the orientation program more appealing to a wider range of participants.

The university has made a change allowing students to choose one activity to participate in, and the entire program has been reduced to one day. The man agrees with it for two reasons. Firstly, not all students enjoy doing the same activities. If given a choice, they will be more motivated to participate in the program. Secondly, it will provide them with more time for preparations, such as purchasing books, setting up their dormitory rooms, or getting ready for their first class. This new approach will not only cater to the diverse interests of students but also allow them to better manage their time during the crucial first days on campus. By offering a variety of activities and a shorter time commitment, the university is making the orientation program more accessible and appealing to a larger number of incoming students.

Revised Answer (140 words): The reading passage states that Madison University has made changes to its orientation program for first-year students by offering a choice between hiking or participating in organized group games on campus. These activities will now last only one day instead of two. In the listening passage, the man expresses his approval of these changes for two main reasons. First, he believes that offering a choice of activities will cater to a wider range of student preferences, as not everyone enjoys camping and sleeping in tents. Second, he thinks that reducing the duration of the orientation activities to one day will allow students to better manage their time and focus on other important tasks, such as buying textbooks and preparing for their first day of classes.
