Resumen de la Tarea

Texto de Lectura

Cafe to be Built in Library The university has decided to build a cafe in the basement of the library. The reason given for this new development is that university officials believe students will enjoy the convenience of being able to eat without having to leave the library. Students have often complained that their studies are disrupted because they must leave the library whenever they want to eat. Officials also believe that it will help make library study more productive if students have the opportunity to take short breaks in the cafe while they're working. Sincerely, Justin Ruben

Revised Answer (140 words):

The university plans to build a new cafe in the basement of the library so that students can go there to eat and relax, which will improve their learning efficiency. The woman in the conversation disagrees with this plan. Firstly, she thinks that the cafe usually provides some unhealthy snacks such as sandwiches and sweets, which could negatively impact students' health. Moreover, she believes that having friends chat and eat in the basement while she studies in the library would be distracting, as she would be tempted to join them, which would lower her learning efficiency. Additionally, she is concerned that the cafe might become a social hub rather than a place for short breaks, further reducing students' productivity. Therefore, she doesn't believe that building a cafe in the basement of the library is a good idea.

Original Answer: The university suggests to build a cafe in the basement of the library, because students will enjoy the convenience of eating in the library and also can make library study more productive. However, the woman in the conversation disagrees with this idea. She primarily thinks although when the weather is bad, students won't enjoy going out to the cafeteria outside, the school library can only serve the unhealthy snacks such as sodas and sandwiches, which are not good for their health. Secondly, she thinks if there are many students chatting at the basement of the library, students will prefer to hang out with them rather than concentrate to their real work, that will decrease the production.

Corrected Answer: The university suggests proposes (建议用"proposes"替换"suggests",使语言更地道) to build a cafe in the basement of the library, because students will enjoy the convenience of eating in the library and also can make library study more productive. However, the woman in the conversation disagrees with this idea. She primarily thinks although that even though (用"that even though"替换"although",使句子结构更清晰) when the weather is bad, students won't enjoy going out to the cafeteria outside, the school library can only serve the unhealthy snacks such as sodas and sandwiches, which are not good for their health. Secondly, she thinks if there are many students chatting at the basement of the library, students will prefer to hang out with them rather than concentrate to focus on (用"focus on"替换"concentrate to",使表达更自然) their real work, that which (用"which"替换"that",使句子结构更准确) will decrease the production.

Revised Answer (140 words): The university proposes to build a cafe in the basement of the library, aiming to provide students with the convenience of eating within the library and potentially making study sessions more productive. However, the woman in the conversation disagrees with this plan. She primarily argues that even though students may not enjoy going out to an external cafeteria during bad weather, the library cafe would only serve unhealthy snacks such as sodas and sandwiches, which are detrimental to their health. Furthermore, she believes that if many students are chatting in the library's basement cafe, others will be tempted to socialize with them instead of focusing on their actual work, ultimately leading to a decrease in productivity.

The speaker's delivery is generally clear and fluid, with a consistent pace and only occasional pauses. However, there is room for improvement in terms of pronunciation and reducing pauses. To enhance the delivery, the speaker should practice speaking more naturally and work on their pronunciation of certain words.

4.Topic Development The response is coherent and well-organized, with clear connections between ideas and sufficient support or examples. Revised Answer (140 words):

In the reading passage, it is announced that a cafe will be constructed in the library's basement to provide students with convenience and a place to take short breaks. Contrarily, in the listening passage, the woman disagrees with this plan for two primary reasons. First, she argues that if students choose to eat in the basement instead of leaving the library, they will mostly consume unhealthy snacks like junk food and soda, which could negatively affect their health. Second, she believes that having a cafe within the library might tempt students to socialize during breaks rather than concentrate on their studies, leading to decreased productivity. Additionally, she fails to mention any potential benefits of this new development. By addressing these concerns and providing more specific details from both passages, this response could achieve a higher score.

The reading passage states (将“books”删除,用更准确的表述来引入阅读部分的内容) that the university should build a cafe in the basement of librarythe library(加上定冠词“the”), because it will be very convenient for the students to eat without leaving the library. The library study will be more productive if students take short breaks in the cafe while working. However, the woman in the conversation totally disagrees with it by mentioning two reasons. First, the students won't walk to the cafeteria even when the weather is not good. They will just go to the basement and eat something. However, the library only serves junk food, so it will be very unhealthy for them to eat junk food. And secondly, the students will only chat in the basement, and everybody will be tempted to join them and chat together, so people will be distracted and it is a bad effect.

Revised Answer (140 words):

The reading passage states that the university plans to build a cafe in the basement of the library for students' convenience and increased productivity during study sessions. However, the woman in the conversation disagrees with this plan for two main reasons. Firstly, she believes that students would prefer going to the basement cafe instead of walking to the cafeteria, especially during bad weather. This would result in them consuming unhealthy junk food offered at the library cafe rather than healthier options available at the cafeteria. Secondly, she argues that having a cafe within the library would encourage students to socialize and chat in the basement, leading to distractions and reduced focus on their studies.
