Masking The impact of environmental noise is a serious concern to scientists because the presence of excessive noise in an animal's environment can threaten its survival. Animals regularly produce and receive sounds in their daily lives for a variety of purposes, such as communication or the search for food. When environmental sounds are louder than sounds that the animal uses, the result is known as masking. Masking is a covering over of one sound with another sound. Scientists believe that masking impedes animals' ability to transmit or receive biologically important signals that are essential for survival.

Original Answer: When environmental sounds louder than the sound made by the animals, it will result in masking. In this lecture, the professor used the example of the egg whales. Egg whales, it largely depends on sound because it has a ventral system called ecosystem that to send off the sound and return the series of clicking sound so that they can lead them to the direction of the food location. While this experiment made by the scientists that they used the type of the environmental noise to determine whether or not they are going to change the probability of survival turns out that the effect is showing that the effect is 20% of the sound and it reduces the probability of survival.
Corrected Answer: When environmental sounds are louder than those made by animals, it results in masking. In this lecture, the professor used the example of orca whales. Orca whales largely depend on sound because they have a unique system called echolocation to send out and receive a series of clicking sounds, which helps them determine the direction of food sources. In an experiment conducted by scientists, they used environmental noise to determine whether it would change the whales' chances of survival. The results showed that a 20% increase in noise reduced their chances of survival.
Revised Answer (140 words):
When environmental sounds are louder than those made by animals, it results in a phenomenon called masking. In a biology lecture, the professor discussed an example involving orca whales. These whales largely depend on sound for survival as they use a unique system called echolocation to send out and receive a series of clicking sounds. This helps them determine the direction of food sources in their environment. Scientists conducted an experiment to study the impact of environmental noise on the whales' chances of survival. They focused on noise from boats in the whales' habitat and observed how it affected their behavior. The results showed that a 20% increase in noise from boats reduced the whales' chances of survival, as it interfered with their echolocation system and limited their ability to gather information about food sources in their surroundings.

Masking occurs when environmental sounds are louder than the sounds animals use, which is also known as masking. In the conversation, the professor talks about an example of ochre wheels. In the lecture, the professor discusses an example of orca whales. These wheels can have special sounds and use the echo to find their locations, communicate with other wheels, and find food. These whales produce special sounds and use echoes to locate themselves, communicate with other whales, and find food. They can use echoes to find the more information surrounding them. They utilize echoes to gather more information about their surroundings.
Revised Answer (140 words):
Masking occurs when environmental sounds are louder than the sounds animals use, which is also known as masking. In the lecture, the professor discusses an example of orca whales. These whales produce special sounds and use echoes to locate themselves, communicate with other whales, and find food. They utilize echoes to gather more information about their surroundings. Orca whales use clicking sounds to determine the location, shape, and size of objects in their habitat. In the study, scientists focused on noise from boats in the whales' habitat off the west coast of Canada. The increased noise level from the boats is believed to have blocked the transmission distance of the whales' clicking sounds, reducing their foraging area by up to 20%. This indicates that the whales' echolocation abilities were impaired, and they could not gather as much information about potential food sources in their surroundings.

Revised Answer (140 words): Masking occurs when environmental sounds are louder than the sounds animals use, resulting in interference. In the lecture, the professor uses orca whales as an example. These whales produce special sounds and use echoes to locate themselves, communicate with other whales, and find food. Orca whales have these clicking sounds, and similarly, they change their sounds if boats are nearby. The study mentioned in the lecture showed that increased boat noise led to a reduction in the whales' hunting area by up to 20%. This means that their echolocation system was not functioning at its full capacity due to masking. As a result, the whales couldn't gather as much information about potential food sources in their surroundings. This serves as a good example to illustrate the concept of masking and its impact on animals' survival.
