University Should Pave Running Trails The university has about three miles of unpaved dirt running trails that pass through the forest near campus. I think these trails should be paved with cement. One reason for paving the trails would be to increase their safety. When it rains, the dirt turns to mud and becomes very slippery, so the runners who use them can slip and fall. Pavement would solve this problem. Also, paving would make the trails look nicer, which would encourage students to use them. Bumps in the trail would be smoothed out and weeds would be paved over, making the trail more attractive to runners.

5.语言使用Original: In the reading passage, the student suggests that the university should pave those three miles of unpaved dirt running trails with cometscement(原文中的“comets”应为“cement”,这是发音不准确导致的拼写错误。). And in the lecture, the man disagreed with this idea. Firstly, he argues that it would not be safer, since the student doesn't think about the long-term consequence. It is not comfortable to run on a hard surface. It would even cause injury. Soft surface would be better. And secondly, the students would not like the way they look, and they would not use it more, since most students just take a break to work on it since it makes them feel in nature. And now it looks like a common street, and it is not as reliablerelaxing(原文中的“reliable”应为“relaxing”,这是发音不准确导致的拼写错误。).
Revised (140 words): In the reading passage, the student suggests that the university should pave the three miles of unpaved dirt running trails with cement. However, in the lecture, the man disagrees with this idea for two main reasons. First, he argues that paving the trails would not make them safer because running on a hard surface can lead to long-term injuries to bones and joints; a soft surface is better for runners' health. Second, he believes that students would not appreciate the change in appearance of the trails and might use them less frequently. This is because many students enjoy taking breaks from campus life by running on the trails, which currently offer a natural and relaxing environment. Paving the trails would make them resemble ordinary streets, diminishing their appeal as a place to escape and unwind.
