Pay Theater Assistants Currently, the assistants who help with the production of plays on campus are student volunteers who are not paid or fully trained. I suggest that the theater department pay the assistants who help out with plays and also give them special training. As someone who has been in campus productions, I know that using volunteers doesn't work because they often arrive late for rehearsals, or not at all, and they don't know a lot about operating stage equipment. However, paid assistants would be more motivated to provide reliable help. They would also be able to operate stage equipment more effectively because they would have better training. Sincerely, Sally Smith

26. 3.Delivery

The speaker's delivery is mostly clear and fluid, with a consistent pace and only occasional pauses. However, there are some minor issues with punctuation and pronunciation that could be improved. To enhance the delivery, the speaker should focus on proper pronunciation and appropriate pauses to ensure a more natural flow of speech.

4.Topic Development The speaker provides a coherent and well-organized response, with clear connections between ideas and sufficient support or examples. The answer effectively summarizes the proposal, states the man's opinion, and explains the reasons for his opinion. The topic development is strong, and no significant improvements are needed in this aspect.

5.Language Use

The man fully supports the student's proposal of providing volunteers theater assistants with payment and training. Firstly, providing volunteers theater assistants with payment can make them not necessary to find another job to make money. For example, the man's friend who is working as a production assistant at the theatre didn't show up one night at a show because his real job boss asked him to stay later for the work. If the volunteers assistants are paid for the job, then they can take the theatre work as their major job. Secondly, training the volunteers assistants is necessary because the equipment in the theatre is becoming more and more complicated and is really difficult to use, so it's quite likely that they will mess up during the show. If a professional guider can teach them how to perform those equipment step by step, then not only will they manage to do the equipment better, but also the play will be shown better.

(The term "volunteers" was replaced with "theater assistants" to maintain consistency with the original text.)

Revised Answer (140 words):

The man strongly agrees with Sally Smith's proposal to pay and train theater assistants on campus. He believes that paying these assistants would eliminate their need for additional jobs, allowing them to prioritize their theater responsibilities. He shares an example of his friend who missed a rehearsal due to a scheduling conflict with his other job. If theater assistants were paid, they could focus solely on their theater work. Furthermore, the man emphasizes the importance of training these assistants, as theater equipment has become increasingly complex. Proper training from a professional would not only improve their skills but also enhance the overall quality of the plays. In conclusion, the man supports Sally Smith's proposal because it addresses the issues of commitment and competence among theater assistants, ultimately benefiting both the individuals and the productions.

Original: In the latter, In the letter, (原文中的“latter”应改为“letter”,因为这里讨论的是信件内容) the student proposes to pay assistants and give them more training because those paid assistants will be more motivated to offer help and operate the equipment more efficiently. Because the men in the dialogue agree with that proposal, first of all, the students always make other jobs to make money, and the real work comes first. For example, one of his friends volunteered as a product assistant for a show, but he didn't show up because his real job boss asked him to stay up late to work. And secondly, equipment, training, if some professional could show the assistants how to manipulate the equipment step by step, they won't mess it up and they can better control the equipment so as to serve a better show.

Revised (140 words): In the letter, the student proposes to pay theater assistants and provide them with additional training because paid assistants would be more motivated to help and operate stage equipment efficiently. The man in the dialogue agrees with this proposal for two reasons. Firstly, students often have other jobs to earn money, which take priority over their volunteer work. For instance, his friend volunteered as a production assistant for a play but missed a rehearsal due to his paid job requiring him to work late. Secondly, proper training from professionals would enable assistants to handle complex equipment effectively without making mistakes. This would result in better control over the equipment and ultimately lead to improved performances in campus plays.

4.话题发展 The speaker provides a coherent and well-organized response, with clear connections between ideas and sufficient support or examples. However, there is room for improvement in topic development. The speaker could provide more specific examples from the listening passage to support their points, such as mentioning the friend's experience with the conflict between his main job and the play rehearsal. Additionally, the speaker could further emphasize the benefits of having paid and trained assistants for the overall quality of the plays. Original Answer: The proposal suggests the paying and offering free to the volunteers at the show. The proposal suggests providing payment and training for the volunteers at the show. (建议将“paying and offering free”修改为“providing payment and training”,使表达更清晰准确。) And Moreover, (使用“Moreover”替换“And”,使句子衔接更自然。) the man completely agrees with this opinion. The first reason is that he thinks it is necessary to pay for the volunteers at the show because they need to make their money. That means that when the show schedule just collides with their main jobs, they will not sacrifice the shows for their main jobs. And the second reason is that training is very necessary because the equipment has become much more complicated than before. And by showing them how to use the equipment, their skill can be improved and also the play quality can also be improved. So it is necessary to provide paying and training for the volunteers.

Revised Answer (140 words):

The proposal suggests providing payment and training for the volunteers at campus theater productions. Moreover, the man completely agrees with this idea. The first reason he provides is that paid assistants would prioritize their theater work over other jobs, as they would no longer need additional sources of income. This would prevent conflicts between their main jobs and theater commitments, ensuring a more reliable presence at rehearsals and performances. The second reason he mentions is that proper training is essential due to increasingly complex stage equipment. By receiving professional guidance on how to operate this equipment, assistants' skills would improve, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of the plays. Therefore, the man believes that offering payment and training to theater volunteers is necessary for both their personal development and the success of campus productions.

Original: The proposal is that the student volunteers should receive special training and be rewarded by full-time class at the school center. I supported the proposal that they could definitely help the students as well as the teachers. For students' volunteers, they always have a lot of other jobs. Their real job comes first. And when their real job has something occupying their time, they have no choice to do their volunteer work. And the training for equipment could not only benefit the students' volunteer but also make the pay better.

Corrected: The proposal suggests that student volunteers should receive special training and be compensated with full-time positions at the school center. I support the proposal because it would undoubtedly benefit both students and teachers. Student volunteers often have multiple jobs, with their primary job taking precedence. When their primary job demands more time, they have no choice but to neglect their volunteer work. Furthermore, providing equipment training would not only benefit student volunteers but also improve the overall quality of productions.

(建议将“rewarded by full-time class”改为“compensated with full-time positions”,以更准确地表达意思。另外,注意使用连词和过渡词,如“because”和“Furthermore”,使句子更自然流畅。)

Revised (140 words): The proposal suggests that student volunteers working in theater productions should receive special training and be compensated with full-time positions at the school center. I support this proposal because it would undoubtedly benefit both students and teachers involved in these productions. Student volunteers often juggle multiple jobs, with their primary job taking precedence over their volunteer work. When their primary job demands more time, they have no choice but to neglect their responsibilities in theater productions. This can lead to unreliable assistance and a lack of knowledge about operating stage equipment. Providing specialized equipment training would not only benefit student volunteers by enhancing their skills but also improve the overall quality of theater productions on campus. This approach would ensure a more professional and reliable team, ultimately leading to better performances and a more enjoyable experience for all involved.

Original: Well, according to a letter, In the letter, (简化表达) the student stressed that the students should pay set of assistance and also give them special training. In the lecture, the man liked the idea. Firstly, he pointed out that the current problem is students are always with real jobs and will consider the real jobs first. He also used an example. Last year, a student should work in show production, but he didn't show up because he is working in his real job. The speaker thinks with paid, the students can focus on the jobs in schools. Secondly, he thinks the training is also essential because the equipment are complicated, and without training, they will easily mess up. With some professionals show them how to use them, not only the skills will improve, the place will be better too.

Revised (140 words): In the letter, the student proposed that assistants should be paid and given special training. The man agreed with this idea for two reasons. First, he mentioned that students often prioritize their paid jobs over volunteer work at school productions. He provided an example of a student who missed a rehearsal due to his paid job commitment. The man believes that if assistants were paid, they would be more focused on their responsibilities at school productions. Well, a student suggests to pay and train theater assistants so that the assistants can be more motivated to provide help and operate the stage equipment more efficiently. In the conversation, the man totally agrees with this idea. First, in his opinion, a well-paid job always comes to the first priority than the volunteer job. He illustrates his friend as an example. Once his friend attended a volunteer job in a show but he didn't come into the rehearsal because he had to do her payment job at first. Besides, the equipment on the stage are more and more complex. So providing some training not only improves the assistant's skills but also makes the theater to be a better place. So based on the two reasons above, the man thinks it's a good idea to pay the theater assistants.

Well, a student suggests to pay paying (use gerund form after "suggests") and train theater assistants so that they can be more motivated to provide help and operate stage equipment more efficiently. In the conversation, the man totally strongly (use a more formal adverb) agrees with this idea. First, in his opinion, a well-paid job always comes to takes (use "takes" for priority) first priority over a volunteer job. He illustrates his friend as an example. Once his friend attended a volunteer job in a show but didn't come into to (use "to" for attending an event) the rehearsal because he had to do her his (correct pronoun) paid job first. Besides, the equipment on stage is becoming more complex. Providing training not only improves the assistant's skills but also makes the theater a better place. Based on these reasons, the man thinks it's a good idea to pay theater assistants.
