Aperçu de la Tâche

Texte de Lecture

Create Student Committee to Decide Funding for Student Organizations   I think students should be in charge of deciding which student organizations (for example, the jazz band or the hiking club) receive money from the university. Students should also be in charge of how much money each organization receives. A special committee made up of students could be created to make these decisions. Currently, these funding decisions are made by university administrators, but a student committee would know better than the administrators which organizations are most important to students and most deserving of the university's financial support. I’m sure a lot of students would be interested in serving on the committee, and those who do serve will gain valuable leadership experience.

Original Answer: The letter suggests that the university should create a student committee to decide the funding. Firstly, the students will know better than the university administrator. Secondly, a lot of students will be interested in the program. However, the man in the conversation disagrees. Firstly, he doesn't think it's a right decision because students are too close to the situation that they can't make fair and objective plans. For example, they may give their friend groups or the groups themselves more money. Secondly, the university will find it hard to find students. There have been already a lot of leadership programs, but students are not interested in them. They are so busy that they don't want to commit a big time to it.

Corrected Answer: The letter proposes that the university establish a student committee to determine funding allocation. First, students possess greater insight than university administrators. Second, numerous students would be intrigued by this opportunity. Nevertheless, the man in the conversation opposes this idea. Initially, he believes it is not an appropriate decision since students are too intimately involved in these situations and cannot make impartial and objective judgments. For instance, they might allocate more funds to their friends' groups or their own organizations. Subsequently, the university would struggle to recruit suitable candidates for this committee due to existing leadership programs that fail to attract student interest. Students are often preoccupied with other commitments and unwilling to dedicate substantial time to such endeavors. Revised Answer (140 words):

The letter proposes that the university establish a student committee to determine funding allocation for various organizations. First, students possess greater insight into the needs and priorities of their peers compared to university administrators. Second, numerous students would be intrigued by this opportunity and eager to participate. Nevertheless, the man in the conversation opposes this idea for two main reasons. Students are often preoccupied with other commitments and unwilling to dedicate substantial time to such endeavors, making it difficult to form an effective committee.
