Groupthink One process by which groups may make bad or irrational decisions is known as groupthink. Individual members of a group attempt to conform their opinions to what they believe to be the group consensus even though the result may be negative. There are many reasons why groupthink happens. These include the desire to be liked, fear of losing a job, or even not wanting to be the one employee delaying a decision that seems inevitable. These kinds of implicit pressures to conform lead group members to ultimately make decisions that each, by himself or herself, might normally not make.

Revised Answer (140 words): Groupthink is a business management concept in which individuals make decisions that conform to the group's opinion, even though they believe it may jeopardize the common interests of the entire group. Consider the example provided by the speaker about a computer company. The speaker proposed updating the design of a project and provided evidence that changing the design would yield greater benefits. However, this suggestion was opposed by a senior manager in the company, leading to group opposition and ultimately resulting in lost profits due to this decision. To avoid groupthink, it is essential for companies to encourage open communication and diverse opinions, as well as fostering an environment where employees feel comfortable expressing their thoughts without fear of negative consequences. 4.话题发展 The speaker provided a coherent response, explaining the concept of groupthink and its effects using the example of the computer company. However, there is room for improvement in terms of topic development. Additionally, the speaker could have emphasized the negative consequences of groupthink more explicitly, such as the loss of potential customers and profits for the company. Overall, focusing on providing more detailed explanations and making stronger connections between ideas would improve topic development in this response.
5.语言使用Original Answer: Group thinking is a phenomenon that individuals within a group tend to agree with the consensus of their group. Groupthink is a process in which individuals within a group conform their opinions to the perceived group consensus. (将“Group thinking”更正为“Groupthink”,并对句子结构进行了调整,使其更自然。) An example is that the man and his co-worker wanted to update the design of their computer to make it more up-to-date and look more modern. a man and his coworker proposed updating their computer's design to make it more contemporary and visually appealing. (对原句进行了改写,使其更自然且词汇更丰富。) However, their managers say that they should focus on technology instead of the appearance. Suddenly, the supporters of the man changed their ideas to support the manager. The man and the co-worker both took a step back finally. The result is that their competitors benefit much from the change of their computer's looks, and they also win many potential audiences and buyers from the man's computer company.
Revised Answer (140 words):
Groupthink is a process in which individuals within a group conform their opinions to the perceived group consensus. A prime example occurred when a man and his coworker proposed updating their computer's design to make it more contemporary and visually appealing. However, their managers insisted on prioritizing technology over aesthetics. Consequently, several supporters of the design change shifted their stance to align with management's viewpoint. Feeling pressured by this shift, both the man and his coworker eventually withdrew their proposal. Ultimately, this decision proved detrimental to the company, as their competitors capitalized on the opportunity to attract customers with a more visually appealing design. This led to a loss of potential clients and revenue for the man's computer company, demonstrating the negative consequences of groupthink.

Original Answer: Group thinking means that individual members of groups may attempt to confront group's opinion even though the result may be negative. Groupthink occurs when individual members of a group conform to the perceived consensus, even if it leads to negative outcomes. (Changed "group thinking" to "groupthink" and rephrased the sentence for clarity) The speaker used his experience as example. The speaker provided a personal example to illustrate this concept. (Rephrased for better flow) At that time, he worked at a computer company, and he and his co-worker decided to change the exterior of their product. At first, many co-workers agreed with their proposal. However, after senior manager did not agree with this proposal, lots of their co-workers started to change their mind. And the reason why they do this is because they did not want to make bad imagination for senior manager, which may affect their chance of promotion. So that is group thinking.

The speaker provided a personal example to illustrate this concept. While working at a computer company, the speaker and a co-worker proposed changing the exterior design of their product.
