Görev Genel Bakışı

Dr. Diaz

This week we looked at how the cinema—the physical building where we watch films—has evolved over the years. Now, I want you to consider this question: with so many internet streaming services available for viewing films at home, do you think cinemas will cease to exist in the future? Will a time come when people stop going to cinemas entirely? Why or why not?

Paul

In my opinion, cinemas are here to stay. For thousands of years, people have been sharing the collective experience of watching a show, whether it was a live performance at a theater in ancient Greece or a recorded film in a cinema in today's society. And they will continue to want that shared viewing experience.

Claire

I agree that cinemas are becoming obsolete, but I don't think it's because of technology. Many of the best films these days are being produced as ten- or twelve-part miniseries, with much more focus on character development. These productions are meant to be watched on television. You don't need a big screen to enjoy them.

In my view, the cinema will continue to hold a significant place in society, despite the growing popularity of internet streaming services. One reason for this is the unique experience that a cinema offers, which cannot be replicated through technology alone. For instance, watching a comedy film in a theater surrounded by other viewers creates an atmosphere of shared laughter and enjoyment that is difficult to achieve when watching alone at home. Moreover, while I concur with Claire's point that miniseries are better suited for television due to their focus on character development, movies differ in their emphasis on plot and storytelling. This distinction makes cinemas an ideal venue for showcasing the visual and auditory spectacle of films. The collective experience of witnessing a captivating movie together is something that technology alone cannot provide. Thus, I believe that cinemas will continue to thrive as they offer unique experiences and cater to the distinct nature of films as an art form.

3. Task completeness

The essay effectively addresses the task requirements by expressing a clear opinion on the future of cinemas and providing relevant support for that viewpoint. The writer contributes to the discussion by considering both Paul's and Claire's perspectives while also offering their own thoughts on the topic. To further improve, the writer could elaborate more on why miniseries are not a threat to cinemas, or provide examples of how cinemas have adapted to changing technology.

Example 1: "Cinemas have shown their adaptability by incorporating new technologies like 3D and IMAX, which offer unique experiences that cannot be replicated at home." Example 2: "While miniseries are popular, they cater to a different audience than movies; thus, both forms of entertainment can coexist without one replacing the other."

4. Essay structure and organization

The essay has a clear structure with an introduction, body, and conclusion. Each paragraph focuses on a specific point with supporting details. Transitions between ideas and paragraphs are mostly smooth. To improve organization further, the writer could use stronger transition phrases or topic sentences to guide readers through their argument.

Example 1: Instead of starting with "Moreover," consider using "In addition to the unique experience that cinemas offer," as it provides a clearer connection between paragraphs. Example 2: Replace "Thus, I believe" with "Given these factors," in the conclusion for a more effective transition from discussing specific points to summarizing the overall argument.

From my perspective, I think there will never be a time when people stop going to cinemas entirely, because firstly, it can provide an unique experience on watching in a cinema, the real experience on watching a movie on a large screen while have other people gathering around to watch with you is nothing technology could be compared of. A very realistic example is when watching comedy, when there comes to a hilarious action, all the audiences will laugh, but for most people, when watching alone, they won't feel it's laughable anymore. Furthermore, I agree with Claire that miniseries can never be displayed in a cinema, but movie is totally different from it miniseries are focuing on build every character's personality, but movie is concentrating on the plots. So, because of the uniqueness of movie, cinema will never be obsolete, since it can provide chances for audience witnessing the arrival of a fantastic movie together, which is an experience technology can never compare of.

3. Task completeness

The essay does a good job of addressing the specific requirements of the task by expressing an opinion and making a contribution to the discussion. However, there is room for improvement in terms of elaborating on the viewpoint and providing more specific examples or details to support the argument. Additionally, some grammar errors and unclear language use are present.

Suggestions for improvement:

  • Provide more specific examples or details to support your viewpoint.

  • Revise grammar errors and improve language use for clarity.

Examples:

  1. Instead of saying "a very realistic example," provide a specific movie title or scene that demonstrates the unique experience of watching a film in a cinema.

  2. To improve grammar, revise "it miniseries are focuing" to "miniseries focus."

4. Essay structure and organization

The essay has a clear structure with an introduction, body, and conclusion. However, there is room for improvement in terms of organizing ideas within paragraphs and using transitions between ideas.

Suggestions for improvement:

  • Organize each paragraph around one main idea with supporting details.

  • Use clear transitions between ideas within paragraphs.

Examples:

  1. In the first paragraph, focus on explaining why watching movies in cinemas provides a unique experience that cannot be replicated at home.

  2. Use transition words like "additionally" or "moreover" to connect related ideas within paragraphs, such as when discussing different aspects of why cinemas will not become obsolete.

5. Grammar

Akademik Tartışma Nasıl Puanlanır

TOEFL Akademik Tartışma görevi, resmi ETS puanlama rubriğine göre değerlendirilir. Yapay zeka değerlendirmesi her yanıtı birden fazla boyutta analiz eder.
