What does this TOEFL writing checker do?
Write a TOEFL 2026 Write an Email answer to one of 5 practice prompts and get an AI score out of 5, plus a score, a comment and quoted corrections for each of the four rubric criteria. It is free, needs no account and allows 3 checked emails a day. Academic Discussion answers are checked in the LingoLeap app, and Build a Sentence, which is simply right or wrong, has its own free drill.
Choose a prompt, write your email as you would on test day (about seven minutes), and submit it. The checker scores your email against the prompt it answers, so it works with these 5 prompts only. Nothing you write is sent to analytics.
You are taking an introductory biology course and have been struggling with the material covered in the last two lectures. You have an upcoming midterm exam next week and would like to meet with your professor to clarify some concepts.

Both essay-style tasks are scored 0-5 on four criteria that follow the 2026 rubric. The criteria differ: only Academic Discussion asks whether you respond to the other students. Build a Sentence is marked correct or incorrect, so it needs no grader — practice it in the free Build a Sentence drill.
Every criterion, level and field is documented in what TOEFL 2026 writing feedback contains; the band descriptors are in the TOEFL Writing Rubrics guide.
Academic Discussion answers are checked in the LingoLeap app rather than on this page. You write your post under the real 10-minute timer to a prompt from the question bank and get the four criterion scores and comments, a revised version of your post and a list of grammar corrections. For topics to practice with, see the Academic Discussion topics.
Write under the real timer and get a 0-5 score with feedback on all four criteria.
Open writing practiceUse the score to compare your own drafts, not to predict your official result. The checker runs the same scoring module as the LingoLeap app and applies the published 2026 criteria, but LingoLeap has not published a study comparing its scores with official ETS scores, so this page makes no accuracy claim.
The most useful output is the feedback, not the number. The comments and quoted corrections show which criterion held the score down. For example, an email with clean grammar that uses the wrong register for a professor loses points on social conventions, and no amount of proofreading fixes that.
