Reading Passage
Music Coming to Cafeterias Mary Dixon, Director of the Student Life Committee, announced yesterday that beginning next semester university cafeterias will broadcast classical music during mealtimes. “Music will foster a more relaxed atmosphere.” said Dixon, "Students' lives are hectic, and mealtimes provide important opportunities to take a break and catch up with friends before moving on to the next class or assignment." Added Dixon. "We're also hoping that, if we provide the music, students will unplug their personal music devices—their Walkmans and mp3 players or whatever—and will spend more time talking to each other. When students have their headphones on. they're not connecting with each other."

23. 3.Delivery
The speaker's delivery is generally clear and fluid, with a consistent pace and only occasional pauses. However, there are some minor issues with punctuation and pronunciation that could be improved. For example, the speaker should work on enunciating words more clearly and using appropriate pauses to separate ideas. Practicing speaking aloud and focusing on pronunciation can help improve these areas.
4.Topic Development The response is coherent and well-organized, with clear connections between ideas and sufficient support or examples. However, there is room for improvement in terms of providing more specific details from the listening passage to strengthen the argument. Additionally, the speaker should avoid repeating phrases like "classical music" too often and instead use synonyms or pronouns to create more variety in their language. To improve topic development, the speaker can practice summarizing key points from listening passages and incorporating them into their response more effectively.

Revised Answer (140 words):
The Student Life Committee has decided that beginning next semester, the university cafeteria will broadcast classical music during mealtimes to promote a more relaxed atmosphere for students. Additionally, the committee hopes that it can encourage students to unplug their personal music devices and engage in conversation with each other. However, some students disagree with the committee's policy for two main reasons. First, many students use mealtimes as an opportunity to study and prepare for upcoming examinations or complete assignments. The presence of classical music may hinder their ability to concentrate on their tasks. Second, most students do not prefer classical music, making it more likely that they will bring their own MP3 devices to block out the unwanted background noise. Consequently, the policy may not achieve its intended goals of fostering relaxation and social interaction.
