Task Overview
Reading Passage
University to Create a Lounge for Commuter Students Many students at our university do not live in dormitories. These students live in town or in the suburbs and travel to campus every day. The university has decided to provide these commuter students with a special lounge the student center—with couches, chairs, and a television. University officials hope that this lounge—a place to socialize and relax—will give commuter students some of the same advantages that dormitory residents now have. An important additional feature of the lounge will be a bulletin board on the wall for posting and sharing information that may be especially useful to commuter students and their particular needs.

Original: In the reading passage, the school is setting up a lounge specially reserved for commuter students students who commute(通勤学生改为students who commute,使表达更自然). Therefore, commuter students will have a place to relax and socialize like dorm assistants dormitory residents(dorm assistants改为dormitory residents,更准确地表达原意). One thing to be noted is that a blue ink board bulletin board(blue ink board改为bulletin board,更准确地表达原意) in the lounge will be used for posting information. In the lecture, the women agree with this idea. First, she is happy that commuter students are finally going to enjoy something dorm assistants always have. In the lounge, students living off campus get to meet new people, watch TV, or take study breaks. They may also find people who can help them with their schoolwork. And secondly, she likes the blue ink board used for sharing information. With the blue ink board, students can get information like ride shares. Therefore, students can save more money because a few of them can travel in one car.
Revised (140 words): In the reading passage, the school is setting up a lounge specifically for students who commute. This will provide them with a place to relax and socialize like dormitory residents. A notable feature of this lounge is a bulletin board for posting information. The woman in the lecture agrees with this plan for two main reasons. Firstly, she believes that having access to such a lounge will allow off-campus students to meet new people, watch TV, take study breaks, and potentially find academic support. Secondly, she appreciates the bulletin board for sharing information, such as ride-sharing opportunities. This could help students save money by allowing them to carpool to campus. Overall, the woman supports the university's plan as it addresses the needs of commuter students and enhances their campus experience.
