University Library to Make Changes Some of the library's books are used only infrequently. Beginning next semester, books that have not been borrowed in the past five years will be removed from the library shelves. According to the head librarian, the goal is to create space for new books that the library expects to acquire in the future. The removed books will be digitized, their pages will be scanned and made available electronically through the library's website. Students who wish to access these books for any reason will be able to view the complete text easily on a computer.

{"content": "Well, in the reading, we know that the university is going to make some changes about the books in the library like the books that have not been borrowed for the past five years will be removed from the shelves First of all, they want to create a space for new books and also the removed books will be digitized And the woman in the conversation agrees with this plan First of all, she said she worked at the library last year and according to her experience, the shelves in the library were crowded with books you know, packed with those old books And actually, there were piles of books stacked in the librarians' offices the new books that the university had just bought but they just didn't have room for them, which is kind of a shame Plus, she thinks that it's a great idea to give students online access of those old books since they will be a lot easier to use And students don't have to go to the library personally or carry those books around and they can just sit in their dorm and read those books So it's a lot easier"} {"topic_development_description": "The response presents a clear progression of ideas and conveys the relevant information required by the task. This initiative aims to create space for new books that the library expects to acquire. The removed books will be digitized and made available electronically through the library's website, allowing students to access them easily on a computer. In the conversation, the woman agrees with this plan. She mentions that she worked at the library last year and observed that the shelves were overcrowded with old books. Additionally, there were piles of new books stacked in the librarians' offices because there was no room for them on the shelves. She believes it's a great idea to provide online access to these old books, as it will make them much easier to use. For example, students with visual impairments can use screen readers to access the content of digitized books, which is not possible with physical copies. This ensures that all students have equal access to educational resources.", "Additionally, digitizing books can help preserve rare and fragile texts. For instance, some old manuscripts are too delicate to be handled frequently. By creating digital copies, the university can ensure that these valuable resources are available for future generations without risking damage to the originals.", "Moreover, having digital versions of books allows for advanced search capabilities. For example, students can quickly find specific information within a book using keyword searches, which is much faster than manually flipping through pages. This can greatly enhance research efficiency and productivity.", "Lastly, digitized books can be accessed remotely by students who are off-campus. For instance, during holidays or internships away from the university, students can still access their required readings online. This flexibility supports continuous learning regardless of a student's physical location."]}
