6.文章修订
Everyone encounters awkward questions and problems at some point in their lives. Most of the time, we must address these issues and find solutions through communication. The question arises: should we communicate using email or telephone in such situations? I prefer to use email and text messages, as they provide ample time for clear thinking.
Firstly, written communication can express opinions more effectively than verbal communication. For instance, when someone is angry, they may hang up the phone without giving the other person a chance to explain themselves. Hearing the voice of someone you dislike can also trigger anger. However, when you receive an email or text message from that person, you are more likely to open it and read its contents. Written communication ensures that messages are delivered accurately and without unnecessary emotional interference.
Secondly, writing allows individuals to organize their thoughts more effectively. In fact, people can identify their strengths and potential issues through writing. Consider a young man named James who is debating with his father about whether he should major in physics or music. As soon as they start discussing the matter verbally, an argument ensues. However, when James sits down to write a letter explaining his perspective and outlining the advantages and disadvantages of each option, his father gains a better understanding of his son's viewpoint. Reading not only allows people to absorb information but also provides more time for reflection and preparation.
Admittedly, using phones and voice messages has its advantages as well. Many problems can be resolved through direct conversation, which is often considered more personal than written communication. Nevertheless, verbal discussions can sometimes exacerbate issues rather than resolve them. When people talk on the phone, they might become irritated or emotional, which hinders effective problem-solving.
In conclusion, I believe that using email and text messages is a superior method for discussing contentious or sensitive issues compared to communicating via phone calls or voice messages. Written communication enables individuals to express their opinions more effectively, organize their thoughts coherently, and avoid the emotional pitfalls that can arise during verbal exchanges. By employing written communication in such situations, we can foster a more productive and harmonious exchange of ideas.
