Task Overview
Reading Passage
Illusion of Truth People tend to believe that they are able to accurately judge whether information they receive is true or false, but this is not always the case. In fact, research has found that when people are exposed to the same information more than once, they become more likely to accept the information as true. This phenomenon is known as the ilusion of truth.Psychologists think this ilusion occurs because familiar information is easier to process than unfamiliar information. Easier processing of the information may lead people to inaccurately believe that the information is true simply because they have encountered it before.

5.语言使用Original Answer: Illusion of truth is a phenomenon that people will believe the information that they see more than once. For example, a group of university students, they are shown at a statement that they exactly not known. Some are false and some are truth. Well, for example, there is information that gold is high with the material, it's turned to be false. And they are able to decide which one is the truth. And after a while, they are shown by another list, which includes some repeated statements and some new statements. Well, they are going to decide those statements again, which one is the truth. Students are more likely to decide that those repeated statements are truth and those new information are false. So this is an explanation of illusion of truth.
Corrected Answer: The illusion of truth is a phenomenon in which people tend to believe information they have encountered more than once. For instance, a group of university students was presented with statements that were not well-known to them. Some statements were false, while others were true. One example was the statement that gold is the heaviest metal, which turned out to be false. The students had to determine which statements were true or false. Later on, they were shown another list containing both repeated and new statements. They had to evaluate these statements again for their accuracy. The students were more likely to consider the repeated statements as true and the new ones as false. This demonstrates the concept of the illusion of truth. (在修改后的答案中,我们对句子结构、词汇和语法进行了调整,使其更自然流畅。例如,我们将“they see more than once”改为“they have encountered more than once”,以更准确地表达意思。同时,我们还纠正了一些语法错误,如将“are truth”改为“were true”。)
Revised Answer (140 words):
The illusion of truth is a phenomenon in which people tend to believe information they have encountered more than once. This demonstrates the concept of the illusion of truth and how repeated exposure to information can influence our perception of its accuracy.
