Task Overview
Reading Passage
Behavioral Exposure Because they fear failure or some other unpleasant consequence, children are sometimes afraid to engage in certain behaviors that could be beneficial to them. One technique that can help children overcome this kind of fear is behavioral exposure. With this technique, children are encouraged to perform gradually increasing amounts of the feared behavior. After they are repeatedly exposed to the behavior and experience no negative consequences, they gradually become confident that a negative outcome is unlikely, and they are eventually able to overcome their fear.

5.语言使用Original: Behavioral exposure is the definition mentioned in the reading, which is one technique that can encourage children to perform gradually increasing amounts of the feared behavior. In the lecture, the professor used his own children as an example to explain it. You know, when his son was 18 years old, they moved to a new place. At first, his son was very afraid to talk to their neighbors. And at one night, the professor encouraged his son to say hi to a group of kids, but his son was very reluctant. And then on the way back to their homes, the professor encouraged his son to say nice about their back. And when they reached the homes, their son just went outside by bicycle. And at the end of the night, his son made several new friends. So therefore, there is one example.
Corrected: Behavioral exposure is the definition mentioned in the reading The reading passage introduces behavioral exposure (将原句改为更自然的表达方式), which is one technique that can encourage children to perform gradually increasing amounts of the feared behavior. In the lecture, the professor used his own children child (原文只提到了一个孩子) as an example to explain it. You know, when his son was 18 8 (听力原文中提到的是8岁) years old, they moved to a new place. At first, his son was very afraid to talk to their neighbors. And at one night, the professor encouraged his son to say hi to a group of kids, but his son was very reluctant. And then on the way back to their homes home (家应该是单数), the professor encouraged his son to say nice about their back something nice about their bikes (原句意思不清,应该是关于孩子们的自行车说些好话). And when they reached the home, their son just went outside by bicycle. And at the end of the night, his son made several new friends. So therefore, there is one example.
Revised Answer (140 words):
The reading passage introduces behavioral exposure, a technique that encourages children to gradually perform more of a feared behavior. In the lecture, the professor used his own child as an example to explain this concept. When his son was 8 years old, they moved to a new place where the boy was initially afraid to talk to their neighbors. One night, the professor encouraged his son to greet a group of kids; although reluctant, he did so. On their way back home, the professor urged his son to compliment the kids' bikes. After returning home, the boy went outside to ride his bicycle and eventually made several new friends by the end of the night. This example effectively illustrates how behavioral exposure can help children overcome their fears.
