Task Overview
Reading Passage
Living Shorelines People often build towns or settlements near the ocean, but these settlements can experience erosion when ocean waves wear away the land. To resolve this difficulty, people may put up artificial barriers to protect the land from the ocean, However, these barriers reduce the available habitat for coastal plant and animal species living near the water. Therefore, many scientists today encourage the creation of iving shorelines. Creating a iving shoreline involves removing artificial barriers and instead using natural elements to protect the land from the water, The purpose is to restore the area to a more natural condition and provide a habitat for plants and animals, while also protecting human settlements.

1.子项得分 Delivery: 2 Language Use: 2 Topic Development: 3
2.预估分数 Estimated Score: 19
The speaker's response is somewhat coherent and organized, but there are some inaccuracies in the content and the connection between ideas could be clearer. To improve topic development, the speaker should focus on accurately summarizing the main points from both the reading and listening passages, and clearly explain how the example of the university illustrates the concept of a living shoreline. Additionally, it would be helpful to use more precise vocabulary and sentence structures to better convey the ideas from the passages.
5.语言使用Original Answer: Leaving store lines, remove artificial barriers, and instead to build barriers to protect the land. Living shorelines remove artificial barriers and use natural elements to protect the land. (改正了拼写错误和语法错误,使句子更自然流畅) In the listening, the professor gives an example about the university. The university was a nice location, and initially people built a country concrete (纠正了发音错误导致的拼写错误) wall to separate the ocean and the land. When the wave comes, it stops before the wall, and it's a grass in the sea. It's a wall built on top of the campus, and the animals disappear. The wall was built on top of the wetland area, causing the animals to disappear. (重新组织句子,使其更清晰易懂) Recently, the university built the leaving store lines living shorelines. It separated the campus and the ocean by absorbing waves. It protects the biodiversity of the ocean.
Revised Answer (140 words): Living shorelines remove artificial barriers and use natural elements to protect coastal land from erosion while preserving habitats for plants and animals. In the lecture, the professor discusses a university that implemented this concept. Initially, a concrete wall was built along the shoreline to separate the campus from the ocean. This wall disrupted the coastal wetland habitat, causing the disappearance of various species. Following the advice of scientists, the university decided to create a living shoreline. They removed the concrete wall and replaced it with special wetland soil and marsh grasses that absorb wave energy. This not only protected the campus from erosion but also restored the wetland habitat, allowing for the return of birds, fish, and other species, thus increasing biodiversity in the area.
