Task Overview
Reading Passage
Facilitators When a particular habitat is damaged by a natural event, the various species that live theremay die off or leave the area. After such an event, the earliest species to inhabit thisdamaged area may make it possible for other species to live in the area later, These firstspecies facilitate or enable the arrival of other species; thus, they are called facilitators .Facilitators may have special features that allow them to live in an environment that hasbeen made unsuitable for other species to survive in. Once established, facilitators changethe area, and other species can once again survive there.

5.语言使用Original Answer: According to the reading, the early species could facilitate us to inhibit this damaged area may make it possible for other species to live in the area later. The professor elaborates on this. For example, when some rocks exposed to storms are hard for new plants to grow. However, brown allergies with strong roots sticking in the surface of rocks can change the situation. After these brown allergies grow in these rocks, other species can live in this area because this can give situations for living.
Corrected Answer: According to the reading, the early species could facilitate us help (“facilitate us”不符合语境,应改为“help”) to inhibit colonize (“inhibit”意为抑制,应改为“colonize”表示殖民地化) this damaged area may make it possible for other species to live in the area later. The professor elaborates on this. For example, when some rocks exposed to storms are hard for new plants to grow. However, brown allergies brown algae (拼写错误,应为“brown algae”而非“brown allergies”) with strong roots sticking in the surface of rocks can change the situation. After these brown allergies brown algae grow in these rocks, other species can live in this area because this can give situations conditions (“situations”不符合语境,应改为“conditions”表示条件) for living.
Revised Answer (140 words): According to the reading, early species can help colonize damaged areas, making it possible for other species to live there later. The professor elaborates on this concept using an example from the ocean. When storms expose rocks, it becomes difficult for new plants to grow due to the slippery surface. However, brown algae, with their strong root-like structures, can attach themselves to the rocks and change the situation. Once the brown algae grow on these rocks, they create a more suitable environment for other species to live in. This is because the rocks are no longer slippery, allowing other plants such as ocean grasses to attach their seeds and grow into mature plants. In this way, brown algae act as facilitators by creating favorable conditions for other species to thrive in previously uninhabitable areas.
